  1. Hi, Have had cats in the past and they were either vicious and brought in loads of small creatures they had killed or were very aloof. Have now adopted a rescue puppy (Jack Russell) who came home two days ago. He is very clever and affectionate but does not like traffic much.
  2. Ah! styks, You went and said the 'Genetic' word and 'neurotypicals'. My conclusions after fifty odd years is ... Yes it is genetic. Yes we are different. 'Neanderthal' in a good way? and..... The universe and so called reality are so weirder than we can imagine.....or The Universe is only as weird as.....? Or. Illusion and mis-understanding of your immediate environment could be a sign of collective DELUSION.(Apologies for shouting that one). My personal view is that so called Humanity lives in a state of self-induced delusion, because that makes them feel better about the damage that they inflict on each other and the co-habitants of our precious Mother Earth. If you are standing on a Driftwood life raft adrift on a vast ocean would you chop it from under you? (Have you seen Life of Pi)? There are many brilliant brains applying themselves to this Forum, I Just wish that they could collectivise and put this perceived world to rights. Best wishes A
  3. Hi every body, What is your preferred pet? And. Why? And. Hi to Lufty, I just noticed you online your birthday is one day before mine......but I am older
  4. Hi styks, What a lovely honest post. I recognise everything in your post that also apply to me. I used to get depressed before my diagnosis. In my twenties and thirties my temper could be explosive. I used to refer to that side of my personality as 'The Beast'. The Beast would escape the cage when it saw or was subjected to plain old cruelty... to anyone or any thing. The Beast is now on the leash partly due to 'Mindfulness' and Tai Chi exercises. Recent events in the news have stirred The Beast and it could truthfully be said to be straining at the leash with regard to certain issues. I believe you might also be describing Aspie Empathy, which we are apparently incapable of. That is complete tosh as I personally believe that Autie/Aspies can have an overabundance of empathy.....which can lead to complex social inter-action issues. I also have no friends....but I kind of prefer it that way due to a deep yearning for a simpler life. I do however love fish and dogs as pets and they are my friends. Best wishes. A.
  5. Well said Dude..... well may be and you may or may not have a point. However..... Just be who you wanna be and stuff everybody else. In the nicest possible way. We all like to think that we are different....But are we? You may just have provoked an identity crisis in me. Probably not actually.....it's just a thought! best wishes AM
  6. What has the Nas Achieved? Zilch, Nada, Diddly zip. Other than great salaries.
  7. Hi, Nothing but nothing makes me angrier than bullies. In fact anyone who deliberately harms another living thing makes me very angry. Over the years I have had to develop strategies to cope with this......as do we all. I have found that there is no overall winning strategy. Every person and every situation is slightly different. I feel that the best survival strategy is to avoid potential situations in the first place. This can of course lead to accusations of aloofness. I may have mentioned on other threads that I find Buddhist type mindfulness extremely useful. I also think that behaviours can attract behaviours, so try to be mindful of my behaviours.(Is that too many uses of the word behaviours.... and 'I' oops)! So in short....Care for others as you would care for yourself and do no harm. Best wishes AM
  8. Probably. Happy New Year.
  9. Happy New Year to Everybody x.
  10. Hi Gold MD, I thought this one was dead and buried.(Poor joke)! But. Since you have resurrected it..... I would say that there is no point in being afraid of what is going to happen to all of us. Live life and be as happy as you can. Be kind to all living things(including yourself). I find this really difficult coz people really annoy me. I don't have any friends...But. That's my funeral.
  11. But seriously, Speaking as an 'Aspie' I find films that attempt to portray Aspergers/Asd incredibly annoying. I personally prefer to try identify characters un-disclosed personality traits in films. I also try to transfer this to real life. I read ' The Psychopath test' by 'Jon Ronson ' and started to think about some current Government Ministers and the G.P's at my local surgery. Do you think that I may have some difficulty separating fact from fiction?
  12. Sorry reply to Aeolienne
  13. Reply to dm2010 Erm.....X-Ray
  14. My instinctive reaction to your question is. 'How about life before death'? Apart from all that I believe that it is all an illusion. You have always existed-always will, in one shape form or another.
  15. Hi Sensitive Soul. I understand as I have had some of the same issues in the past. I respectfully suggest that you read some Buddhist articles about 'Attachment'. Getting my head around these concepts really helped me. This of course is assuming that you have not done so already. I am non-religious and non-political and I find the 'Noble Eightfold Path' of Buddhism and mindfulness to be a really useful framework to live my daily life within. AM
