  1. Sorry, I don't log in very often and I've just realised this subject has already been done recently. Thanks anyway.
  2. Hi, I thought this sort of thing ended with the third reich. I really am shocked by this.
  3. HI everyone, I am thinking of starting an aspergers social group in the Coventry area but I'm not sure what kind of place to meet up. I thought maybe a quiet pub that served food would be good but I'm struggling to find one in the city centre and I'm worried that somewhere outside the city won't be accessible enough. Any thoughts you might have would be very welcome.
  4. Hi Rudi, I first went to the NHS years ago to find out what was wrong with me and over the years they miss diagnosed me as having emotionally unstable and bi polar disorder among other things. They did eventually suggest Aspergers but told there was no one in my area qualified to deal with it so I had an in depth Aspergers assessment with a psychologist who is a specialist. Since my diagnosis things have got much better for me. It hasn't actually changed my situation in life but now I know exactly what I'm dealing with and have been able to educate myself and get advice on how to make things better. You shouldn't have to pay for it but I wish I had a long time ago.

    Hello

Hi Brooke You're right about my age, I'm 34. I feel a lot better about myself now I know what is going on. I didn't know much about Aspergers until after I had been diagnosed and then it all made sense. Before then I could be quite hard on myself for getting it wrong in social situations or melting down, I saw it as some sort of failing. I still have meltdowns but they are not like the ones of old where I would drive like a lunatic and break stuff. The one thing that has helped me a lot is taking up running and joining a running club. If I get stressed now I just pop out for jog and everything seems much better afterwards. The thing that I'm working on now is small talk. I'm ok if I'm talking about something in particular but general chit chat hurts my brain. I am getting better though. Thanks for replying, it would be nice to hear more about you too

    Hello

Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with aspergers and thought it would be a good idea to talk to other people who are on the spectrum. I've spent some time reading other peoples posts and its a relief to know that I'm not the only one who has trouble working and socialising with people. I don't want to ramble on and bore everyone with too much detail so I'll leave it there for now.
