Waterboatman is right Mihaela, the medical appointments should take priority over the Autism Working Group as it is getting more and more difficult for anyone to get medical appointments these days. The NHS is breathing its last breath and will likely be gone in the next few years, so you need to take advantage of it as much as possible while it's still there. Your solicitors also do only have one thing in mind - profit. They don't care about their clients. They will deliberately take as long as possible to extract as much money out of you as possible. I would just stop using them to be honest as they're not doing anything and keep messing you about. I'm still thinking about what we talked about yesterday and if there are any ways I can help you. I'm thinking of you all the time. Take care x
  2. I'm not surprised you're lost for words after someone has said this to you! I would be really insulted if someone said that to me. I would probably communicate with my fist
  3. From now on, I'm gonna try to live a positive life

      I hope you're keeping it up! :)

  4. My delusions are similar - I nearly always think people are staring at me or laughing about me when I go out in public, even though some dingy corner of my brain knows this is not true. Regarding the obsessive thoughts etc., have you been tested for/diagnosed with OCD? The combination of obsessive and intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviour make me think you may have it. It's quite common for Aspies to have OCD apparently. I think I may have it myself, although without the compulsions. I don't really have much in the way of compulsive behaviour but I do have so many intrusive thoughts that I can't shake off and I'm also a massive perfectionist - I tend to reject all work I do after a while as it never seems good enough.
  5. Just thought I'd share this heartbreaking story I heard about: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/12/05/dying-girl-addie-christmas-cards_n_6274820.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Addie Faucett, a six year old girl from Utah dying from Cerebral Atrophy, has been receiving hundreds of cards for what is likely her final Christmas. I would be a hypocrite to demand people send her cards as I can't afford to do it myself, but if you can spare the money to send her a card, it would be really great. The address is: Addie Lynn and Sisters, P.O. Box 162, Fountain Green, UT 84632
  6. Hi Eustace I too have experienced multiple panic attacks and anxiety and have self-harmed and attempted suicide in the past. It seems like it is quite common for people with Asperger's to 'hit the wall' when they reach around 20 years old or so - all the stress of our often very difficult childhoods reaches an explosive point, resulting in panic attacks and horrific anxiety. I personally believe that a lot of people with AS will go on to develop personality disorders as a result of the negativity frequently directed at them for their differences. I'm all but certain I have one myself - I'm getting delusional, paranoid and keep having really bizarre thoughts that make absolutely no sense. It's good that you're getting help sooner rather than later though - anxiety etc does have nasty habit of sneaking up on oneself
  7. In my opinion non payment of a TV licence is 100% a victimless crime. The BBC claims that they are doing people a service by not broadcasting adverts but is it really worth it for the £145.50 a year a TV licence costs? Plus, it's not even relevant in 2014 - traditional TV is dying in favour of streaming. You already have to pay to use the internet, plus (without Adblock) we are constantly bombarded with internet ads so what exact purpose does a TV licence hold in this day and age? Let's just make the BBC ad-funded like all the other channels and abolish TV licences. I would comment on the state of television these days but I fear it would take up too much space.

Still alive. Managed to find somewhere to stay. Thanks for the concern to those who showed it. To those who posted a doubtless rude comment and deleted it - back off. Seriously

  9. Sugar-deprived from anxiety and having a blood test tomorrow. Sleep deprived as a result of that. Sex deprived from being a weirdo. I'm missing the three greatest 'S's

  10. I tend to get on much better with older adults at work than people my own age. I probably usually end up annoying them, though

    Claiming ESA

As I was diagnosed with AS when I was 7 years old I think there should be enough medical history to back up my claim.

    hi

Hi there. Give the moderators some time - they only moderate the website on a voluntary basis and have other commitments. I hope your query gets resolved

    Claiming ESA

There is a CAB in my town. The fact that there's so much repetition and the fact there are so many questions is getting to me. I find filling out forms stressful enough as it is - they make me feel like my privacy is being violated - but this is just horrible.

    Claiming ESA

I'm currently filling out the form and it's driving me crazy. I'm getting close to a panic attack because of this absurd form
  16. I meant liberalism in the sense of treating other human beings as equals and freedom for the people as opposed to the modern definition. It is hard to define such beliefs though when terms are constantly being hijacked for political means.

Yeah, that would be great Pari, thanks
  18. I've come to that point in my life where I've realised I simply can't work efficiently in certain types of job. I was claiming JSA but found it to be too much: as they make you apply for any jobs, I only ended up getting interviews for catering jobs which almost broke me. One interviewer asked me about everything, including why I was being bullied at my last job! Because of this, I really need to claim ESA until I can find work in a more suitable job. I can't find any actual useful information on the DWP website. Can anyone who claims ESA give me a detailed breakdown of the application process, what I have to do and how long it takes? Would be much appreciated
  19. Awesome! The ball is officially rolling. Any other south easterners want to get in on this?
  20. Considering that most if not all people with AS rather than 'classic' autism have average-to-high IQs, I would say that intelligence is a part of the condition. However, IQ testing is majorly flawed, especially when it comes to measuring the intelligence of autistic people. On other forums I've known non-verbal autistics to make some of the most intelligent, articulate posts I've seen. I can't remember who posted it but there is a link on this forum to an incredible video made by a non-verbal autistic woman. In the video she appears to an ignorant mind to be 'in her own world' and unaware of what is going on around her, and presumably she would score low in conventional IQ tests. Then she communicates with the viewer through a text-to-speech synthesiser and you realise just how aware this woman is. Her unconventional communication methods make people instantly assume she's not intelligent, then she goes on to prove them all wrong. It just goes to show just how little humans actually understand intelligence.
  21. The economy has become a deity in the eyes of the majority, hasn't it! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. This is another contributing factor to my theory that aspies are either a throwback to an earlier species of human or a step forward in evolution. We far less likely to desperately need to appease the Economy God as NTs do. There are of course many religious Aspies but certainly every one I have spoken to is more driven to the loving-and-sharing side of religion rather than trying to appease God by arbitrary means. Could shyness and being a loner partially be so vilified by NTs because it represents a better side of humanity? Considering the modern, loose definition of friendship of knowing people and facts about their personal lives (gossip culture) rather than actually being friends with them, this would not surprise me. I can see ASBOs being handed out for being shy in the next few years. Bleak times for introverts everywhere.
  22. I'm referring to the Protestant culture you mentioned, Canopus. I have taken into account that it has spread beyond Europe - that's why I'm saying it's a cause of so many problems! The whole thing is founded on greed and elitism.
  23. To all aspies feeling down: don't forget that you are something special. You may not feel this way about yourself, and that's okay - things are difficult for us. But chances are, you have some talent hidden away that not many people have. That alone makes you a very special being upon this earth. You are Aspergers and you are awesome x

There must be a way to hurry Creative Support up. I'll do some snooping around the internet and report back later. I've just had a look at CS's website and it seems they're making some bold claims about their company: "The services that we deliver to people with autism are designed around individual needs. For this reason no two services look the same and we are proud of the way we have been able to tailor support packages and the living environment around the specific requirements of our service users (and their families)." Lolz. I wonder who wrote this self-congratulatory rubbish? And I wonder what they had taken before writing it to experience such otherworldly hallucinations?
