  1. Wow just read the last topics It is obviously something you feel passionate about. Ok I have to go out there and form an opinion for myself, but I will take your comments on board, and thank you. <'> I will investigate all the angles and if any one wants to hear what I find out I will re-post, They are going to call me on Firday. I NEVER knock some thing I have not tried. And if i find out it is a money making scheme I will knock it like hell, Or if it does not live up to its claims. Although like you we love our children and all there funny ways, We all need to do the best by them for their future. My son gets very distressed about things, and he finds social difficultes hard, I just want him to be happy and have friends and If i can get him support to do this I will look at every possiable help I can get. Hope I haven't Offended any one
  2. Hi, on saturday I went to london to a course aboout autism as I have josh who is 12 and I work with two children as a one to one suppport at school. According to them they can CURE autism and they had a speaker and founder taking it and he said he was Autisic and his prognises was bleak, and that he only had a IQ of30 But now he's gone though uni, and is no longer austic. They were Talking about AS a lot, I want to sign up for the weeks course ( which as a parent i get 80% off) But before I do part with any cash can I get others veiws CINdy
  3. We had a lot of on going pain expaining this condition for others. The school seemed disintrested and belived he just needs good boundries, and a firm hand. When my father-in-law saw a major melt down, when J throught he had been stabbed with a needle and he was seeing black smoke, He blamed me as a bad parent. Another comment that had been said to me by grandparents are "That child needs to be locked up". "Hes an errentric". The school said "oh hes only a mild aspergers" he is just a drama queen. But What i want to say is we take all the melt downs, we fight for there rights, we apoligies when our child appear to be rude, because they wont reply to people when they talk to them. We dont get invites to peoples houses because we dont fit into there little boxes of excepable people. Other that this web site do you guys feel your the only ones out there and feel isolated. SORRY BADLY NEEDED A MOAN TODAY
  4. hi Stephanie, In the USA they told me they are nit allowed to ask you for proof of your childs condition. What a man at sea world said " Why would someone to sick enough to lie about it" So they just wouldnt ask......................... so the answer is no you do not need proof, and they will bend over backwards to accomdate you. Have fun in the usa
  5. You say that i am being to wonder if there is a link, my son vomits every week and becomes drained and falls asleep. We have paid private and had a CT scan and they keep saying theres nothing wrong with him. This appeared around 9 years old and he his now a small 11. Does any one else experance this????????????????????????????????????????? There is no medical reason for it according to the most expentive doctors, but my son is always missing school. Could it be linked to AS or am i cluching at straws.
  6. Most of you probally Know this but just in case. I went to florida and when i got to the theme parks, my son had major meltdowns because he didnt like the rides, or the crowds. A member of staff saw the Commotion and rushed over to help when I explained he had AS she took us over to customer service and they gave us a pass that allowed us to go in all the exits. They told us all theme parks in the US would give us these pass?s. We were also taken on behind the scenes, the Americas believe us as parents have enough to deal with, and try to make it as best as they can for us. SO??..Came back to England and started to compare attitudes and was presently surprised. Thorpe park don?t charge to carers and gave a blue band to go straight in rides NO queues. So if you little person want to try a ride there is no build up so they have a go. And they can stay with a partner why you go on and then you just swap. Chessington the same and the cinemas don?t charge us and you can arrange to be taken in and sat down before others,( depending on the cinema). So now before I go out I check to see how they can meet our needs . Isn?t good to see people taking such a positive attitude towards our children. And it makes our life so much easier and can make a potential disastrous day a pleasure.
  7. Hi i am a parent of an aspergers child, and my son is now 11, and had the diagosed for years. we manage his aspergers very well but like all mums find melt downs draining. Any way to the point , i work in a school and they have an aspergers child there, and i have been asked to work with the child and of course said yes. But i have to be honest i am a bit nervous as i deal with every day life with a child with aspergers but never worked with older children in education. i am looking forward to the challenge and i find him a dear child but he cant focus easily. I am really asking if any other parents have worked with children in a school environment with AS and have they got any handy hints. If so i would be gratful if you have advise.
  8. Thanks for all your support i shall apply!!!!!!!!!!!!! cindy
  9. Thanks Guys, Good point Beverley, Ill tell her that. Although i only get lower mobility.
  10. Do you have problems in getting your child out? I do If i need to get a pint of milk, i have to pursade my son to get out of the car which is really difficult as he has a big fear of dogs. If some one bibs the horn he will jump on the nearest car, with fear. So i am applying for a blue badge which is the one that replaced the orange badge. I spoke to the council they said it is a good possiablty i might get one???????? Has any one else applyed? I will ease a lot of tention for me and my son as i will be able to run out of the car for milk. or i have no distance to walk with him. If i go to the local shopping centre there is less chance of him running off in fear and striaght into a car. I mum thinks its wrong for me to apply as it sould only be for people who have difficulty in walking. I am wondering if you think this is selfish or am i in my rights to ask? Honest replies whould be gratful.
  11. Hi cindy here again Well i recieved disabily allowance last week. I got it on the first try, but i did put down the worst cases i had experanced with my son. Because AS is so unpredictiable it is best to name the worst situations that you have experanced. Also the DWP will help you fill in the forms at there centre or over the phone. By doing this i got 75 a week which is fab. <'> but the forms are areal pain to fill out and i would of dreaded filling them out for a second time. I mean "how many times do you get up at night" " how long does it take". With my son its so diffrent from day to day. Its impossable to be accurate. And i do agree i think its silly that you have to re-do them every two years have'nt they got AS for life??????????
  12. I Have started eye q today thanks for your helpful advice i hope it works???
