    Introductions!!

Hiya all, New around here, just found this forum and seeing as everyone else is doing an intro I may as well join in! I'm Sarah, married (for my sins) to Ian and we have 2 children, Alex and Lydia. Alex is 8 and has dx's of ASD, ADHD, dyspraxia, severe migraine disorder, hyperlexia, hyper+hypotonia, pelvic/trunk/shoulder instabilities and finally anxiety disorder! He's a lovely little lad, very complex to say the least! He goes to an ASD specific unit (we did the mainstream thing - never again!) and he's been there for 2 years or so and is doing well. He's made alot of progress these last 2 years and I personally beleive in the ASD specific approach, its worked for Alex and there should be more provision like that around. He's very gifted in maths and could read before he could talk properly, but writing - urgh! He hates it and will do just about anything to avoid it! Lydia is 3 and is definetly becoming more of a puzzle each day! She is beautiful, chirpy with huge blue eyes! She's in pre-school one day per week where she is currently getting 1 to 1. She enjoys it and likes to go but really doesnt *get* the other children. She toewalks, stims, twirls, flaps, has echolalia etc etc etc. Her speech isnt brilliant, her pronunciation isnt very good and much of what she says is echolalia but its coming on - slowly. We are currently waiting for an appointment for her for CDC, she was seen there last year but they weren't sure if she was copying her brother or not, well we are 1 year on and we are pretty sure she isnt copying her brother! So here we go again, at least this time we know the score. Ian, hubby, is *in computers* and is in my mind *somewhere* on the spectrum. Me, well I'm just stressed! Thats about it for now. Sarah
