  5. Hi Jonathan, My son sounds very simular to Stella's son and as many rituals to complete and we are unable to put a time limit on them. When my son is more anxious about things the rituals have to be repeated many times, we have been told my our psychologist to allow him to complete his rituals as doing them makes him feel comforatble able to cope with what ever is coming next, ie going to school, leaving the house, going to bed etc., They are not concerned about the rituals as with some OCD concern comes if the behaviour is performed to stop something bad happening for example constance hand washing because of the fear of germs. My son started a new school in November and we believe that as he settles and becomes more comfortable with his new routine the rituals will lesson, they won't ever go away. For me it is very frustrating and painful, especially as at the moment it takes about 3 hours to leave the house, but I know I must remain patient otherwise things get worse. I think with AS things perhaps are exagerated as we all have our own little routine when we get up, go to bed or leave the house. I know it sounds silly but if I forget to put my ear rings in for the day and go out, my whole day seems to be ruined !!!! Sorry I don't have any real advice for you, but can empthaise and tell you it is quite "normal" providing the ritual does not actually cause any harm. Clare x x x
  6. Aw Shona, that is so sad, I am sorry I do not have any answers for you. My son is a bit funny with his Dad too, not keen to eat or drink anything if Dad makes it and says he's always shouting (his not, he too thinks if people speak loudly or raise their voices they are shouting at him). To be honest I tend to leave them to get on with it and when I am not around their relationship works much better. Clare x x x

  18. Hi Billabong, Oooooh do go with the dog walking idea. I have made lots of very good friends doing that, all sorts of different people and brought together with a common interest the love of dogs. Several of us went out for a meal last week, we have also been to the theatre and grouped together to do quiz nights. I even got offered my job via dog walking, its a great way to network. Good luck Clare x x x
