  1. I didnt just shed a tear I ended up crying like a baby...it came a week after having a report from salt to say our Ds had only shown two emotions extreme anxiety and laughter and that he has avoided all contact with other children and it made the possibilty of 7 years in isolation seem so real and I couldfeel the bravery of this lad.Not everyone could appreciate what some might deem one of the shows tailor made sob stories ..but for once I saw it as every minute as real.
  2. We do the exercise already ourselves but the Ot had an additional programme that was school based to complement the work we already do.
  3. At a multi agency meeting 2 weeks ago that involved the OT, Ed Psch,Clinical Pschiatrist(CAMSH) and the SENCO we politely highlighted the lack of support our child had had with his physical and emotional needs in school time .The senco tried to worm out of the fact as she rustled through her notes (or lack of them!) when I asked what evidence they had of giving J the support that had been discussed at the last meeting.she implied that J had more help Thanrembered or even knew as they do such things in a discretionary way that the child doesnt know !! !keeps a very accurate home record of his school day eg 9.01,9.22,10.05 abstract ,but strictly accurate times that are important to an aspie nature. He does this for his visit to Camhs plus a record for his occupational therapist.Today (only the 3rd time this term ) he got 10 mins in his playtime to do his Ot exercises with a kindly classroom assistant who has always done him a note on these rare occasions has said.."IF YOU DONT REMEMBER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE ITS YOUR RESPONSIBILTY ,IF YOU FORGET LIKE ON THE PREVIOUS FEW TIMES ITS YOUR FAULT"..It might sound she was off but I have a feeling she has been made a scapegoat to cover the senco behind ..so they can say look its true j doesnt remember.its such an insult to his memory and intelligence CAN I INSIST THEY SEND WEEKLY RECORDS HOME OF WHAT HELP ON SCHOOL ACTION PLUS HE HAS HAD.CAMSH SAY TRY AND WORK POSITIVELY WITH SCHOOL BUT WE ARE VERY VERY DISALLUSIONED AND AT THE END OF OUR TETHER ..ALL WE WANT IS APPROX _20 to 30 MINS HELP PER WEEK.ED PSCH SAYS NO CHANCE OF STATEMENT AS HE IS TOO ACADAMICALY ABLE> J IS ASPIE & DCD.
  4. Same here ..over exitement and lack of routine and the stress of setting tapes/dvd recorders(life time obsession) off at the right time for all the programmes we will never watch!!
  5. I find that my problems seem so much smaller when I read a few of other folks comments on forum.
  6. Is there not a place on the forum where we could put Like to meet other parents eg .County Durham or even as specific as town name??
  7. I could have wrote this myself Mel SPECTRUMY Mumble not heard this word before ..it sounds good.
  8. Thanks Cat and Kathryn for your advice..and guess what your predictions were spot on.J wouldnt warrant moving from his current C band ..he would need three Ds or an E to qualify for a statement. She did say we had legal right to request a statement ourselves but they wouldnt simply on his academic ability but as she had not had feedback from Camhs she may have to review but she had had a wonderful morning with our son who was so happy not showing signs of depression who appeared to be so happy and proud of his school..(the child who can cry and bang his head on bathroom wall on a morning when stressed about school loves it does he!!).Hello You have just taken him out in to the cosy adult world of the staff room having a nice chat with adults who he can relate to ..not watched him interact with his peer group and on my gentle enquiry of what she asked him Ds said Mam she wrote down I liked school on her notepad and I said whats that cross it out so she put a line thru and "put just alittle next to it". school hadnt given her much background when I said id been informed we were not on school action plus she said oh yes you are or I wouldnt be here..from what date i said ??? no confimation from the school on this...since Camhs letter afew weeks ago I wonder even though school said they would ask in summer.I think she started to take us seriously when we dropped a few of the names now involved on the healthservice side and she refering him to the ASd team to come to school and in fairness she did diplomatically sum up to senco teacher her findings apt managing to get a few of my digs to school in it in a professional way but did wonder once I went what would be said..laughed when she dropped in to them you may be interested DS keeps a diary of structure of his day what happens when it happens in a typical regimental but totally aspie way!!!Did suggest school attempt to give him ten mins OT sessions but how can I ensure this happens?
  9. put radio on NOW debate been on about parents fighting system....going back to topic soon
  10. Our9 yr old Aspie DS been doing abit of this or if not alot of spinning on bouncing and goes from high to low moods..following a bout of depression& stomach migraines in the summer the deputy head agreed she would arrange a Ed Psch to visit but warnin 2 kids in school ahead in queue and we could wait months for our turn!!(id asked the senco about statements a week previous who had looked at me as if i was stupid and said no way willour DS get a statement These Days!) .in the meantime we have had a diagnosis of Dyspraxia and sensory issues by a OT( he has been attending one to one with Ot who recommended school partake in her programme ahem) ,referal by Paed to Consultant Pychiatrist who has recommended a multi agency meeting,SaLT have refered to ASD dept in community hosp for social skills workshop,he has been prescribed blue tinted spectacles for sensory problems....whats holding the meeting up...the good old eductional system....is this the sencos lack of belief in the system..head teachers but he has made so much progress in our school there have been kids ten times worse..he internalises everything and is so passive and conforms to his ability but there is increased evidence he cannot bottle it in the school setting for much longer..its manifested in depression, high anxieties ,low self esteem and Oct 07 we had six weeks of motor tics etc . then all of a sudden without 24 hours notice ( a cancellation has sprung up..nothing to do with healthcare professionals enquiring when they can pencil in the multi agency meeting you understand )the ed psch is speaking to DS tomorrow and can we pop in for chat after....What can I expect....I dont know much about system re statement what does the banding stand for...he has never even had school action or action plus...sadly through niavity at 4 when ASP diagnosed we didnt ask for one to one as consultant psch advised as academically we thought he was strong and we could self manage its only as he has got older and we now are aware of added problems that we realis ehe desperately needs emotional and social support aswell as help with sensory integration module.what should we be saying tomorrow?????
  11. J is absolutely terrified of dogs too..he will chance get knocked down by a car stepping off the path when a dog comes near. The more he is frightened the more they are drawn like a magnet too him..." dont worry he wont bite he is so friendly !"they all shout as they let the poor excited dog pound ever closer J scream coming more shrill or if they on a lead as he practically crawls up me up me in fear ( which is awkward as he is 9 and rather heavy.) My cat (16) was put to sleep in March and I miss having a cat so so much but J was so indifferent to him and disliked the lack of control he had over the cat and he has told me he will run away if I DARE get a kitten or another cat.

  13. Thanks Lou Lou ..will keep you in mind...school has convinced her not to worry and as their tactics seem to be temporarily working and he has been a good boy so far this week my cousin is breathing a sigh of relief!!!Im sure you will hear from me in the future on this one !
  14. Thanks everyone Ive told her to have a read of your replies..she is off too see the head this morning .
  15. Last May I nearly parceled my early morning performer off too school ...the crawling down the stairs didnt swing it ..it was only the yellow bile that he started to throw up that suddenly alerted me to a "real thing" ...the same day he had his appendix out ...over 365 days plus the GUILT lives on !! hopefully yours will go abit quicker.
