I think it's more useful as something to nick bits out of when trying to explain your child. Of course I don't need it any more as my son has now moved up to juniors where they already know everything

Hi, bit of a late night reply, I can't sleep grrrr have you looked at Easylife Sport buggies second hand from ebay ? they're around �400 new but we managed to get a cheap one from there. I suggest you have a look cos you can get them with a seat which attaches to the front so you can easily accomodate two kids. My tall 7 yr old still fits easily into this buggy and it will take around 45 kg no problem. They are quite heavy to lift in and out of the car but they can be pushed along really easily and have a swivel wheel at the front. We also have a major buggy but this is more difficult to push I think with a larger child in it and of course there's no space for any hitch hikers ! or shopping !! On the DLA front, good luck, it can be done, I woke up one morning to change another wet bed and thought 'that's it, I'm going to ask for ****'s DLA to be reassessed', and we've just been awarded higher rate care AND mobility. I used the walkthrough guide on the Cerebra website to complete the forms. Night,

Ooooh, Another carwash fan <'> My 7 yr old son is into carwashes in a big way, even when we go away on holiday we have to film new carwashes that he can watch on the pc when we get back home. He probably knows the location of every carwash in the Algarve Once, on a boiling hot day on holiday we we sat around outside this carwash just waiting for someone to come along and wash their ****** car, I for one was starting to feel very silly, but needs must We're not impressed with the new black brushes installed at our local Morrisson's carwash, the stripey blue and white ones were far better to watch, apparently have you tried filming the carwash from inside your car as you go through, I thoroughly recommend this, just remember to keep quiet. All you can hear on our film is me shrieking " Look **** SIDE BRUSHES !"

Hi Elun. Your son sounds exactly like our eldest, 11, younger brother has dx ASD. We began the dx process when he was in year 6 worrying about the amount of trouble he is going to get into at Secondary. I wish we'd started the process in Yr 2 when school were seeing us weekly about his behaviour. Actually no, I wish we started the process when he was 2 or 3 and I asked our HV if she thought he could be autistic. 'He's just a boy' was the reply..... Good luck whatever you decide, Smallworld

We're in the same boat Tonight the local news came from the next village to ours ! We moved lots of stuff upstairs cos flood water was only about 50m away yesterday. Hi Andy, I raised a similar question some time ago. As a left-handed mum of two sons, one with suspected AS and one with a definite dx of autism I thought there might well be some connection. If your average right-handed females are left-brained (language,skills intuition etc) then are left-handed females the opposite ? I have to say that I am quite handy with a map and IKEA instructions and definitely have a 'male' brain, in addition to so-called 'female' traits. Given that left-handed females make up only 3/10 lefties I wonder if us leftie mums have more of a chance of producing ASD offspring ? Isn't it all to do with testosterone during pregnancy ? I think it's an interesting topic, wac

Hi, I didn't read Anita's post in that vein at all I think she was quite rightly pointing out that there are 'parents' out there that will pursue a dx of anything if they think they might get dla on the back of it. I don't see this as an attack on parents who are at 'their wit's end', I don't think you'd be on here otherwise. ( Unless you're a really organised piece of work gaining valuable research for your spurious claim of asd/adhd/add...) It's hard to stomach, but there are people out there that will milk the system, which makes it even harder for those children with real problems to get the help they deserve. wac

Nick Ross ended this with 'we said aspergers in the same way as we would describe a suspect as tall or short' (or words to that effect ) I was so flabbergasted that I didn't notice whether he went on to say his usual signing off phrase, but any nightmares induced by this episode won't be just down to the horrific crimes featured. wac
