  1. hi did they send you anything in the place of driving lessons or did you ask could you have something different. just wondering. i wrote a letter to them today. so i will keep you posted and let you know what happens.
  2. hi everyone. a lady from the family fund called with me last week well anyway i had put down driving lessons and a holiday on the form but yesterday i got a letter from the fund and they wanted some more details of the amount of lessons i needed. to get to the point i dont think i want the driviing lessons any more as i think a pc would be more beneficial for my son. does anyone know if i am able to change my mind on what i have applied for. thanks for your help.
  3. amanda i have only just seen your post. i am absolutely devasted for you. i really dont know what to say here. we are all here for you. you will be in my prayers and thoughts today and always. god bless you and your family.
  4. thanks for all your replys. i dont work at the minute as i am a single parent with four young children. so i will be checking out tomorrow with tax credits etc. thanks for all your help once again.
  5. thanks for that mandy. i rang tax credits this morning so thats that bit done.
  6. hi everyone sorry i havent posted in a while. i was wondering if anybody could give me some advice. i was awarded high rate care of dla for my 8 year old son. i know there is a premium for tax credits and i also know that there is the carers allowance available as well. can you apply for the two of them or is it one or the other. any advice would be greatful. i have been told you can only apply for one of them and some people said that you can apply for the two of them. wee bit lost here.
  7. not a film but little house on the prairie every week and then there was lassie. how sad is that. lol
  8. hi. i was at the doc today and decided to ask about my 2 year old daughter. 3 years in april.. she has very little speech. mainly single words. appears not to hear. plays with dolls but always on her own. any other chldren come into the house and she usually hits them doesnt know how play. she seems very immature for her age. when i take her out visiting or to the doctors she behaves very badly. the health visitor will be coming out on thursday morning to assess her. what do u lot think. is it in my mind or do you think there is cause for concern.
  9. im from belfast northern ireland. boring here too.
  10. my ds is the same. he is 8 years old but has been with the same children from he was 3 years old. his teachers have told me that sometimes he forgets the names of some in his class. so much to learn here.
  11. it does seem as you say there does seem to be different rules for different places. so maybe this is where a lot of the confusion is. lol. it is the north of ireland i live in but i know there are still differences as my brother lives in london and some of the things that apply here dont apply over there. so maybe if there is anybody here from this region they could advice me. thanks again.
  12. hi karen yes it is the same ds that is getting the statement that is to have the assesment. sorry for not wording it properly. they actually havent named a school but the child phycologist told me that i should strongly consider sending him to an english school because using both languages could be too much for him. he is ok with both languages verbally. it is the literacy part of things. karen thank you for all of your help and support. as soon as i get any more details i will let you know. would you mind if i pm you when i get this information.
  13. thanks claire. i think your right about it not being attention seeking. i couldnt take my chances thinking thats what it is. he has done damage with a knife before. who knows if he would do it to himself but i certainly wont take that chance. he is only 8 years old so i will keep torturing cahms to i get a result. thanks again for all your replys.
  14. hi there, my ds is getting a statement, he goes to an irish speaking school at the minute but they want me to consider sending him to an english speaking school because of his dyslexia etc. i have been told i wont be entitled to help with transport because he wont be attending a special needs school. in the end of the day they are telling me to change his school and not giving me the help that i need. i think the way they are looking at things, that it is my decision in the end what i decide to do. if anybody could advice me on this one i would be very greatful.
