    vaccination

'98 very very probable. They were still using up the last of the merc vaccines when my baby was 3 months, and shes 18 months now. I believe the mercury in my sons vaccines contributed to his myriad of problems suffered now. Its a crying shame, but its not the only nasty the inject our kids with :/
  2. I know it doesnt help but the eczema could be a coincidence :/ Unless he is easting more of another food instead of the gluten based foods, that he could also becoming sensitive to? My sons suffered from head to toe excema for years, which is now severe. Try to keep him cool, and in cotton clothes, and try adding oatmeal to the bathwater, I find traditional remedies help better than chemical, which only damage the skin over time and go through to the bloodstream. Put the oats in an old pair of tights and hold under the hot tap, water will go milky, if hes on a gluten free diet dont let him drink it! LOL Also try getting him out in the sun alot, ive found UV light works a treat, also he becomes better when hes been to the seaside splashing in the sea (saltwater also tends to dry up wet sore excema and helps it heal) Thats just my little bit of input, I hope he gets better its a horrible condition :/ Libs xxx
  3. Yep I just got money for a bed for my son, a new washing machine and full set of driving lessons, applied 3 months back, and after the visit waited only 2 weeks. The initial wait is an effort, but they do come through.
  4. Whaaaa my 11 yr old aspy and 4 year old autistic boy are totally hairwash, haircut, hairbrush phobic. My daughters hair is cultivating new species i swear, and my son has to be pinned like a sheep and sheared LOL. My friend Carols little boy Scott just had his first proper little boys haircut, short back and sides - took 3 of us, myself, my boyfriend and Carol By the time we had finished we were all sweating and nervous wrecks, and Scotty crashed out from pure exhaustion - I sure hope that boys hair doesnt grow quickly - phew!
  5. I think most of us take things for granted, that things are there, that we are ourselves, but asd kids/adults tend to dissect things more and look at individual realities and try to evaluate them. My son always cracks me up with the way he says things. Hes only just talking at nearly 5, but he uses words in such a hyper logical way it makes everyone else seem ridiculously long winded. I reckon its that the questions they ask we've never really thought of before they asked us, so we are taken aback, but hey, they make perfect sense right?
  6. Thats exactly it - Brandon suffered awful bowel problems after the antibiotics, and when I asked why they were treating a herpes infection with anti b's they said it was because it was infected. He also LIVES on them actimel drinks, loves em, but they dont seem to help much. I dont think these kids can handle antibiotics, jeez they have to build up their own antibodies, they certainly need to be free to do that. Thing is they have you on the guilt trip, you see your child ill and struggling and often agree to anything youre told will help. Its a horrible dilemma, and not a nice position to be put in at all.
  7. I dont think theres so much a connection between asd and weight gain medically, because my 4 year old son eats and eats and is very skinny, but my 1 year old daughter eats the same amount and has put on alot of weight. Its more to do with the autistic temperament as mentioned to not know they are full, and personal metabolism. Basically my daughters more prone to weight so she puts it on. Its all sensory issues, late toilet training, poor temperature control, high pain threshholds, etc. My 2 asd kids just don't seem to be able to read their own physical needs, and this effects them in many ways - including weight problems. Its amazing to read these entries as all our children sufer very similar problems that are rarely recognised by many proffesionals, its all interlinked but nothing seems to get done about it.
  8. Looking to hear from parents of children with numerous immune system problems ontop of their asd, ESPECIALLY severe excema, asthma and bowel problems. Also anyone whos child sufers from frequent infections, and has suffered regression due to viral infection, ie: chicken pox/herpes virus (varcinella). My son is 4 and suffers from numerous problems, all of the above, and has ASD. He recently contracted a secondary infection to his already infected excema which turned out to be the herpes virus, and a very severe case coverig his whole body in open sores and blisters. He has had chicken pox twice as a baby, both times pretty bad attacks (he got the blisters even under his eyelids), but didnt seem to develop an immunity to the virus naturally. Hence this occuring. He was admitted to hospital for several days and given 4 lots of antibiotics via IV.On the second day I noticed a dramatic change in his personality and he had to be sedated due to violent temper tantrums and the fact he was ripping at his skin far worse than usual. Since he came out he has regressed to the stage he was at at 18 months, with a rare window of his "4 year old personality" coming through, this was after he had improved so much and was talking and interacting much better. He is now impossible to reason with, screams and cries constantly, seems confused and basically just wild. Brandon had a severe reaction to his infant innoculations, (DPT's) and afterwards suffered from convulsions, developed excema which is now horrific, asthma, bowel problems and constant feverish spells often leading to seizures. he was diagnoses as autistic last year, and although improved very well with speech and social development, he has now slid back to worse than ever. I know something happened when he was in hospital, but I have no idea why and would really appreciate any opinions, especially from those whose children have a similar history. Thanks all, Libs

    Introductions!!

Hi all, didnt want to start a new topic as i've already intro'ed myself a little while back (well last year).. I'm Libby, and have been tangled in a mess of social services, council housing evictions, and incompetant so-called "experts" for a few years now. It seems to be one step forward and 4/5's of a step back.. Have 4 kids, 2 NT (well one is suspect, but due to fear of being labelled MP i'm kindof leaving that one to the school to figure out) 2, Keira, 11 and Brandon, 4 have their diagnoses of ASD, Brandons floating around on it non specifically as his speech is still poor, and Keira is Aspergers, with "add traits" and various behavioural problems, that I would relate to her lack of dx for years, and her confusion with being forced into a mainstream setting she cannot handle *sigh* Basically, apart from the diagnoses for both children, i'm being evicted from my home because my neighbour took an initial disliking to my childrens "boisterous" lifestyles, and am now being more or less emotionally blackmailed by SS to get everything spot on or they "don't have an obligation to house myself as well as my children" in a nutshell, they will accomodate my kids. That will be fun for the foster carer. I'm sure Brandons habit of dropping his dummy on the floor and screaming blue murder until he more or less passes out, until you pick up the dummy thats about 4 inches away from him LOL.. I'm laughing because if I don't i'll cry. Would LOVE to hear from people who have had probs with housing/landlords because of their asd offspring. Seems totally unreal this could happen, but i'm sure i'm not the only one who's been through it.. Anyway, hello again to all, sorry to have to be the bringer of personal bad tidings, i'm sure the futures less murky for you lot *She hopes* Libs
