  1. Hi, Just wondered if anyone else is watching this award winning Australian (ABC) drama, I believe it airs on BBC 4 in the UK. The main character, Jesse Banks (Ashley Zukerman) is portrayed as having Asperger's Syndrome and the portrayal is pretty good, apparently Zukerman attended AS support groups to prepare for the role. I found myself identifying with the character and many of his traits. Would like to hear others opinions on the show. :-)
  2. Polka Theatre, Wimbledon offers relaxed theatre performances for children with learning disabilities, autism and sensory and communication disorders. All ages are welcome at these performances. This winter we are offering relaxed performances of Gorilla (age guidance: 1 – 5 years) and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (age guidance: 6+). Relaxed performances are aimed at children with autism, learning disabilities and sensory and communication disorders who will benefit from a more relaxed atmosphere. For these performances we have lowered the sound levels, dimmed the lights so the auditorium will not be in complete darkness and provided a staffed chill out area. A pre- visit pack is available for download from the Polka website www.polkatheatre.com which will help you and your family understand the whole experience. Gorilla: Saturday 7 December 2013, 12pm. Meet the world’s friendliest gorilla this winter as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the classic award-winning picture book by former Children’s Laureate Anthony Browne – brought to life with puppetry, music and a giant sprinkling of Polka magic! When Hannah’s toy gorilla comes to life, dressed in her father’s coat and hat, they embark on a thrilling, moonlit adventure. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland: Saturday 11 January 2014, 11am: Lewis Carroll’s classic characters spring to life in an enchanting show for the whole family, bursting with music, madness and mystery. Take tea with the Mad Hatter, meet the White Rabbit, grin with the Cheshire Cat and play croquet with the Queen of Hearts, but whatever you do... don’t lose your head! Join us in Wonderland this winter for a gloriously funny tale full of laughter, imagination, original songs and stunning staging.
