pingu Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Hello technie peeps. A few weeks ago the little install shield kept popping up and harrassing me to download internet explorer 7 (we had 6) i did download it, as it claimed to be the bee's knees, BUT 2 things happened first was Kieran freaked out because nothing was familiar and also i kept getting an error message each time i logged on, SO i decided to go back to IE6 and all was well again. Since then however - Kieran has become totally obssessed with IE7 and liked the way it looked after all (especially the little blue E with the orange line through it) and has since been on my case morning noon and night to download it again. The little install shield has once again been harrassing me worse than kieran, so under the bulk of pressure i have downloaded it again. NOW FOR THE BIT I DONT GET. Im still getting the following error message when i log on. "SmartBridge Alerts: motiveSB.exe - Entry point not found The procedure entry point GetprocessImageFileName could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL" Would somebody PLEASEEEEEE tell me what the heck its trying to tell me??? Im useless with these tip of the iceberg messages. Any ideas would be very much appriciated. thank you shaz
baddad Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Hi shaz - had a quick shufti around the web and it appears to be a 'helper' programme installed by some ISP's that doesn't get on with IE7... It was all a bit complicated, so easier if you read it yourself yahoo questions.. Their recommendation that you just disable it in start up seems like the best option, but then you'll possibly get another pop up when you start your PC about changing start up options! That one's easy, you just tick the box saying 'don't show this message' Chances are that's gonna sort it, but you can always go back to a 'normal' start up and the default settings if it proves problematic... sara8478 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Have you considered using Firefox? Its much safer the IE7, it has loads of addons you can , well add on. It has tabs the same as IE7, give it a try, you can have firefox and IE7 installed at the same time with no problems at all. http://en.www.mozilla.com/en/firefox/
mbrown Report post Posted February 17, 2007 I absolutely hated the new IE when I downloaded it. I could hardly bear to look at it. I was unable to revert back to the old IE as I had a later one installed. I did a 'system restore' to the day before I downloaded it and that got rid of it and gave me my old familiar screen back.
