Thanks, going to give this to those involved with J, it looks like this book included or excluded is going to be very popular, with the journey I am now on concerning Js Education I think its a book I intend to read.

Dear TB.

its disgusting, tony you have badly let down our children, in your education, education, education a word my son cant even spell, access or feel safe in.

What I find annoying is that she is the one responsible for the massive decline in specialist school places - now she's changed her mind will places increase? Somehow I don't think so. Words are cheap, nice to have her admit she was wrong but how is she going to work to make her wrongs right? Love Kat

Have to disagree. If MW's recommendations had been accepted without alteration, then we would have five times as many special school places we do now, and not one child in mainstream school with a Statement.

It was only the distortion of her report by political activists with an agenda and an ability to sound plausible while misrepresenting her recommendations that led to the ridiculous situation we have now - where the idiotic and meaningless doctrine of inclusion (which has no legal, political or philosophical definition) is reckoned by LEAs to outweight the individual needs of any child with SEN.

It is interesting particularly as i'm about to undertake my biggest fight to date, My son is in a language unit and doing fantastic, academically that is, and now Ed Psyche etc are trying to force him out the door and into his catchment mainstream school. My gut instinct isn't telling me no its SCREAMING at me NO NO NO!!! He is still socially very isolated and very inept when it comes to initiating conversations, we all know of coarse that AS is a social and communication disorder (for want of a better word,!) but they are very convieniently ignoring that saying what a success story he is, yes, he's a different boy to when he first started but that to me says it all he is quite obviously in the right environment for him having tried a nightmare 3 years in mainstream nursery. one size doesn't fit all and they would do well to remember that.

You fight them.I had a similar aituation last year and told them that my son would only move schools over my dead body.

This year at the annual review they told me to start viewing special secondary schools to make my intentions known at the year 5 annual review.Such a change from the previous year!!xx

As things stand there is no way on earth I want Tom to go to a mainstream school. He is doing so well at his special nursery, really loves it there and he's not different from the other children. If he was put into a mainstream environment then he would struggle too much.
