I applied for Dla for my son 4 weeks ago and it has been with the decision makers for a week now and we still haven't received a reply-anyone know on average how long it takes???

I am keeping everything crossed for a positive result!!!

I think the DLA are a law unto themselves,

 

we had a decision in about 6wks,

 

with our other son it took about 9 weeks,

 

and when you're waiting it seems to take forever LOL

I have been told 11 weeks at the moment!

i asked for a reassessment in october and i got the result last week. They told me there is a huge back log and a wait. worst thing was, it took them that long to tell me no!

Ours took about 10 weeks, which wasn't too bad as there was Chrismas in between and we had to have a visit from a medical bod to verify everything as well.

When I applied for Bill it took around 9 weeks and that included a refusal followed by award on reconsideration of evidence.... quite quick really.

 

Good luck.... I hope it comes through sooner rather than later.

Think it varies and how straight forward the claim seems to be. Mine took less than a month.

The application of DLA date was from the 22 Dec 2006 in which the final decision was on the 13th March 2007, but as they were waiting for further information from my son's specialist who was unfortunately onleave for 1 month this is why i assumed it had taken longer, only to get a turned down decision, but fingers crossed, all is being reconsidered with more info/evidence sent regarding my 12 yr old son and a letter from our local MP.

I think i was one of the lucky ones,sent in LOTS of supporting evidence,applied last year,sent forms 3rd May,had letter to confirm they recieved this on May 8th then recieved award including backdated money on June 2nd!!!Something short of a miracle i think!!!

I had M's DLA renewal which I submitted in February (think it was about the 5th). Amazingly i had my respose today, so took about 8 weeks at the most. He was awarded it this time for another 3 years. Am so glad as last time round it took 8 months of fighting, and then it was only awarded for 18 months. It takes longer depending on who they write to for reports. Amazingly this time they went only by the info i sent in and didn't contact the school

Wow, I was lucky then, it only took us 2 weeks! But I did send out a lot of info including reports from professionals, also I believe I was the 1st person in my Borough to fill out the application online and I think that helped too.
