Treatment for ADD/ADHD

Recommended Posts

Hi all :D

Afraid i'm a bit ignorant when it comes to medication and i'm after a bit of help please.

M has melatonin to help him to sleep, but we're heading down the path of a dx of either ADD/ADHD... At our last meeting, M's pead suggested we try something to help him to concentrate.

I would really only want something to help him to stay focused at school - to enable him to concentrate on his work.....rather than something taken all the time IYSWIM.....Is there such a med..??

Thanks xxx

M (adhd and HFA ) is on strattera, which lasts 24hrs,

and long acting concerta, which lasts about 10- 12 hrs,

there's also short acting meds which have to be

taken 3-4 hourly, your pead should have given you

info on the meds, if he hasn't ask for some, and ask any questions

about the things your worried about,

we were really worried about putting M on meds, but

it was the best thing we did now we've got the meds

right, Good Luck xxxxx

Luke is on Equasym for his ADHD. It lasts 3 - 4 hours at a time. He has 1 in the morning, 1 at lunch time and then he can have another when he ghets home if we feel he needs it.

We find it works well for him. If you want any more information, just let me know.

Tyler tried Ritalin and straterra, with no effect at all, he had a QB test to check the effectiveness of the pills and it showed that indeed they had no effect to his behaviour.

He is now just taking Risperdone to try and help with his constant anxieties .

Just thought id show you another outcome of treating a child with Adhd and AS
