Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone.

I have been reading the posts on statementing for a while now, and i wondered if anyone would be so kind as to share with me some of there experiences with the parent represention bit.

I know (in a nutshell) what i need to include (with thanks to the posts so far) and i am trying to put together all the facts/reports etc.

but im at a loss how it should all go together.

If anyone has been down this path i would be ever so grateful if you would advise on how to put the PR together??? >:D<<'>

Hi Pingu

For the parents contribution I put forward about spercific areas of Js education, I included a lot of information on key areas of what J actually needed and why the support had to be 1-1 with an experienced Learning support worker.

When I look back a lot of what I did was list the symptoms of ADHD and ASD and expressed ways to support J and what goals where achievable for J.

The main reason J has LSA is because he needs text interpritating, he needs to be re directed when he has been destracted or looses focus, he needs a lot of the information broken down into small short sentences with frequent explanations.

Support for small groups or socialising in the playground and that a spersific socail training is essential and that support at dinnertimes and a change of routines is also very much as important as in lessons.

I broke down all the major behavioural difficulties J had at the time, expressing the destress J feels when he is not supported or understood.

Having an lsa has really helped J feel safer and doesnt feel so frustrated because he hasnt understood the task.

J also needs a lot of perswation to actually work throw fear of getting it wrong, and getting told off, so the support really does have to have the right approach and praise and that he needed support with raising his confidence and self esteem.

I included the kinds of things he is good at what J enjoys as well as this could be incorperated in a reward approach.

I did enjoy this part of the process the most as it was my oportunity to have a contribution and that I had the chance to say what I actually think J needs, so I had at least a say and by the end of it I felt a sence that I had to done something to help J.

good luck and hope that the PP can help, I am sure there is also other great helplines here too who can help too.
