jools Report post Posted July 26, 2007 has anyone been here? i went with my nt daughter about 5yrs ago when she was 7 on a school trip and she was scared in some places. we have booked to go next week with all 3 but i'm starting to wonder if its really a good idea with G. sometimes the things i think he will freak at, he suprises me and is fine. i can remember getting stuck in the dark room where there are lots of doors which don't lead out! and i'm not sure what he will make of that. also can't remember if any of the rooms have noises as he really doesn't like that. but i know he will love most of it....especially getting wet hope i'm doing the right thing Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Jools, from what I could make out in the little video it looks as if you can choose where you go and possibly avoid certain areas if you need to - so the place itself shouldnt pose much of a problem for your G. I know how you feel, though, about wondering what he will like or fear, what he will delight or shriek at. But then, if you think about it, life is like that too sometimes. Little things come up and we have to deal with them, whether we are ASD or not. And it isn't as if he is in the hands of strangers - he's with you and chances are you will know by instinct what to avoid or how to calm him should he get upset. We're in York either at half term or Easter. He can't wait until he's old enough to go caving! Had a hard time hanging on to him when we went to Castleton. Not over-crowded sounds perfect. Put me down for a place in your suitcase!!!! :lol: I like the idea of it not being crowded. For caving - this is one of the best introductions I know of for children over 11: Adventure Caving. It's not as good as having your own guide and going off into fairly unexplored territory, but it's a fairy cheap (in comparison to caving holidays) and safe way to get a taste of what caving is like. I went when I was 13 (on my own) - the group really looked after me, you get all the specialist equipment and boiler suit and boots lent to you so you don't go home as you do after a caving holiday with clothes in a less nice state to they went in and a mum complaining about the wear and tear all the mud will have on the washing maching and the sewing she'll have to do Ooooh, I've just had an idea to add to the North West Meet . . . Mine were almost 3 and 6 at the time and my little one was a bit wary - my arm was aching with the effort of carrying him - but ds#1 (AS) loved it! He'd love to go back.
