CEJesson Report post Posted September 21, 2007 (edited) Hey everyone, Im all set and packed, hope to leave at 9.30 tomorrow morning. Really excited but naturally apprehensive about 'fitting in' - im in a halls of residence thankfully ensuite:). Today came the details of my support in the form of a support worker for 3 hrs per weekday for the first 2 weeks, reducing to 3 hours per week thereafter. I initially thought that was too much even, but now have dismissed that theory. Good luck for any other students on here moving in this weekend or soon. pearl Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Ooh I read this & got butterflies in my tummy for you! Sending lots of positive vibes your way & hope it all goes well for you. That sounds like a good level of support. Be prepared to hate it for the first month - lots of peeps do even if they don't admit it - its a HUGE change & takes time to adjust. I got wobbly phone calls from S at first which catapulted me right back to my own first week at uni. If you love it right from the start, thats a bonus. And go easy on yourself. If you feel you need to touch base back at home for a weekend after a bit, go for it. Look forward to hearing all about it xx
Mumble Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Chris - good luck, hope it goes well. Now you could really help me here - do you know where your support worker is being sourced from? I've been told no such people exist and despite having the funding in place (I've been assessed and funding agreed for 6 hours a wek) I'm getting nothing. Could you tell me (or PM me) where your uni gets it from? Anything to take to my uni as 'suggestions' has got to be helpful - I wouldn't use your name of course. I'd be really interested to hear how you get on with your support to - a positive story from someone somewhere would be really encouraging.

yoyo Report post Posted September 23, 2007 Good Luck, Chris. Have a brill time. Student days are to be treasured - freedom, independence, the opportunity to be your own person. Town and Country Planning is a fascinating subject, so many different aspects to it. I did it as a Master's Degree after a first degree in Geography and Archaeology. All the best, Yoyo
