Bard Report post Posted October 18, 2007 B made it all the way to half term! No suspensions, internal isolations, detentions, meltdowns, fights, corridor problems, serious arguments... I'M SOOO DELIGHTED! Ladies and Gentlemen, it's the first time since he started Nursery at three that this has happened. So he gets his Pirates OTC DS game, and chocolate cake on Friday (because the rest of us finish then) and a trip to Canterbury to see the very spot where Thomas a Becket was slaughtered, and we're going to Hampton court, and... I'm hiding here on the computer, because I'm so proud of him that I'm worried that he could ask me for anything, and I wouldn't be able to stop myself! And he's still been happy at school, as he usually is. I know that next half term is a whole new scenario, but the glow from this will keep me going and heartened for a long time. phoebe Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Firstly CONGRATULATIONS and secondly - what do you think made the difference and is there any way I can replicate it? I was in school having a meeting with the EP this week - who was just telling me that DS wasn't a worthy candidate of specialist secondary provision (even though he is in a resourced provision at primary), when I was tracked down because DS had kicked off and hit a teacher and was to be excluded for the rest of the day and the following day. NO INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL EXCLUSIONS, NOW THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING, REALLY SOMETHING. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR LITTLE MAN
baddad Report post Posted October 18, 2007 <'> Off to see where Thomas a Becket got slaughtered? What pub was that then? I've been slaughtered near Canterbury a couple of times! So he gets his Pirates OTC DS game, and chocolate cake on Friday (because the rest of us finish then I think that's mean, though... if he's put in all that work he should get first dibs at the chocolate cake, not have to wait until the rest of you have finished L&P BD
Mumble Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I think that's mean, though... if he's put in all that work he should get first dibs at the chocolate cake, not have to wait until the rest of you have finished I think Bard means when the others have finished for half term on Friday. Now I can thoroughly recommend Rocky Road Choccy Cake And if you need a tester to check that the cake's 'safe' I'd be happy to take on that job
Bard Report post Posted October 18, 2007 (edited) <'> Off to see where Thomas a Becket got slaughtered? What pub was that then? I've been slaughtered near Canterbury a couple of times! /quote] He has yet to discover alcohol or women ( except me and his Gran) in a positive light BD, but I'll know who to come to for advice when I'm trying to track him down in a few years. [quote I think that's mean, though... if he's put in all that work he should get first dibs at the chocolate cake, not have to wait until the rest of you have finished /quote] Ha! He's the reason that we don't have cake and biccies in the house as staple elements of our diet. He gets up several hours earlier than the rest of us in the holidays, and can eat his own bodyweight in sugar-based items. And I can't remember how to do multiple quotes, but my Tai Chi is coming along nicely. Edited October 18, 2007 by Bard
Bard Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Now I can thoroughly recommend Rocky Road Choccy Cake And if you need a tester to check that the cake's 'safe' I'd be happy to take on that job Nigella's recipe is one of the first that he tried to produce on his own, and it's now one of his standard holiday activities. Along with ham and pineapple pizza. Thanks for sharing in my happines people, most others that I know wouldn't understand what the fuss is all about, or how hard it is for both of us! pearl Report post Posted October 18, 2007 WOOHOO!!!!! Great news! Well done B! Have a lovely half term. Ooo, Canterbury ... my lovely uncle took me on holiday all over the south of England when I was a bit younger than B, & I still remember shivering with delight in the cathedral listening to his stories of Thomas a Beckett, how the top of his skull was sliced off & all the lice ran away from his rapidly cooling body..... And Hampton Court, one of my favourite places. S & I were there a couple of years ago. I'm surprised we're not still in that maze.
scrappyb Report post Posted October 18, 2007 thats fab news well done I know EXACTLY how you're feeling, my ds has been out of school since Year 4 (now Year 10) and he has just completed six weeks trial at a residential place. Started part time but finally managed one full week. He's loved it, they love him (well, they say they do LOL) and they've just offered him a place Six months ago I wouldnt have ever thought this would happen as I'd lost all faith in any school :D

Mumble Report post Posted October 19, 2007 And I can't remember how to do multiple quotes, but my Tai Chi is coming along nicely. You just forgot the opening square bracket of the closing [ / quote]. So in the one below, after the there should be a [ before the /quote], that's all. (quote name='baddad' date='Oct 18 2007, 07:14 PM' post='177050') (note - I had to change these to round brackets but they should be square because the poor computer was gettng confuzzled) <'> Off to see where Thomas a Becket got slaughtered? What pub was that then? I've been slaughtered near Canterbury a couple of times! /quote] As for Tai Chi - I was thinking about you when they announced a student Tai Chi class in my halls so very bravely went along to see if I would like it. But unfortunately it was obviously a very special student version of Tai Chi because all it involved in terms of moving muscles was the lifting of the pint glass to the mouth and back down again, repeated several times.
