bid Report post Posted January 14, 2008 Lya, this is exactly why I have said before that you need to get her formally signed off as unfit for school due to mental health problems (depression, anxiety, etc) by her GP and preferably her specialist too. Then the LEA will have a legal obligation to provide home tuition after 14 days absence, and the school will have to co-operate with any tutors by supplying schemes of work, etc. It really is imperative that you get her absence formalised asap. Good luck! Bid.
Clare63 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 Yes, I agree with Bid , Lya if you formally get her signed off you will get some support. Plus if you don't you 'll find the EWO chasing you. <'> <'> <'> Clare x x x

JsMum Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Hi I would really recommend you do try to get her to the GP to get her officially off school, if you dont notify school as well it will be down as a non authorised day, one day is two sessions, after 10 sessions you are in a position where the school or police or EWO can prosicute you, its a mad world but its what they do, I know your only supporting your daughter and not condoning it but you really do need to have some proffessional support to back that up, it would be more stress on your daughter if she knew she was getting you into trouble, even if you ask for a telephone call from the gp explain the reason you can not get there and express your concerns over your daughters mental health, leaving it as it is will just increase the schools reaction to further pressure for you to get your daughter to school. You can also talk direct to EWO yourself and discuss the problems your daughter is having, and see if there can be some changes to her timetable can be made or a short term break with her absence authorised.
