Flora Report post Posted March 6, 2008 Thank you everyone for your lovely messages. It's great to have this forum to share this news with people who understand on a personal level how important it is. Clare, where are you up to in the process? Do you think you are going to have battle for the provision you want for you DS? I could tell when I got the draft statement how huge this was going to be for me because it was woefully inaccurate and inadequate and hardly really skimmed the surface of Bill's difficulties and needs. During the hearing his statement went from 8 pages long to about 15 or 16 pages or possibly more when all the extra additions not agreed but subsequently ordered by the panel have been added. Good luck and I will be here cheering you on from the sidelines like everyone has done for me. Flora X

JsMum Report post Posted March 7, 2008 Hi I just read throw your mountian of replies and I have to continue to add yet another as its fantastic news and soooo inspiring, as you are aware we have been offered a local special school, but still part of me wants him to go to a residential specialist school, out of area too, but we too are going to sendist and starting this moutian climb, I can walk miles and do it for days but this tribunal thing is zapping me in energy wise, but posts like yours are a lucazade and put fire in my belly and remain fighting hard, I know now that if we do loose we have a special school in place here but I will continue to fight to get the residential school, as I know that this would benefit him far greater and for a lot longer too. You have done amazing and a very massive welldone, your responce I think in your first post is absaloutly normal because reality has come throw now that the next stage is saying good bye to him for a week and getting over the seperation but you have absaloutly done the right thing, now you both have a chance of living a life worth living, the times you now spend together will be quality rather than quantity. let us know how things go and pm me of the road ahead. Flora X Hi Flora, Still to pick through the draft I am afraid, but they are adament mainstream is the place for him and back to from whence he came !!! the place he had his breakdown in the first place !!!!!! The good news is that from the Health side of things they feel DS's is far too fragile emotionally to return to school and that we are recieving support three times a week to help build his confidence and independence, its very slow but that's DS's pace and they have agreed not to rush him. I am off on Thursday to hear a lawyer speak on provision for ASD children think I'll be chewing his ear off !!!!! IYKWIM Thanks for thinking of me and for your kind support. <'> <'> <'> Clare x x x

I could have written that very same thing last september when Bill's statement was finalised! In fact right up until a week before the hearing the LEA were adamant that he should go back to the school which had made him fall apart at the seams! If there's anything I can help you with, or if you want names of experts/lawyers etc let me know. Stick to your guns, don't accept anything less than your son deserves.
