Cariad Report post Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) T takes concerta XL and has tourettes, they know about this and he still takes it. I've googled to no avail to find out why they shouldn't be taken when you have tourettes.. Can anybody shed any light on this? Brook Report post Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) Hi Cariad, don't quote me on this! but I think it's because if kids are generally prone to tics then these meds can increase tics, so obviously if he has tourette's then he has tics, so I suppose it could increase the severity of his tics. I'm sure I've read this somewhere, I'll have a search as well. Brook Edited April 9, 2008 by Brook

sandyn Report post Posted April 12, 2008 Hi unfortunately, one of the side effects of Concerta xl (as well as other stimulants) can cause tics. This could make the Tourettes much worse.
