not been around much

Recommended Posts

Hi just wanted to post 'cos I've not been aorund much recently (and obviously you'll be msissing me!! ) I'm missing reading the posts and catching up with all your lives.....but things here aren't great. Little ones behaviour has been off the scale recently and I'm worn out coping with it, I'm also preparfing info etc and gearing up to try and get stuff more sorted for him (ie diagnosis, statement etc) it seems most likely he has ADHD which has long since been suspected but seems to be glaringly obvious now and all the associated problems are really evident now, maybe somewthing to do with his age - I don't know.

Anyway that's what's taking up my time and energy really, plus course work and work work, plus school holidays (which have been hell so far!)..........feel a biut like I did when I first joined this forum years ago (ie at my witsend! ) but back then it was older son who was the major concern, just feels like de javu (sure I've spelt that wrong in a Derek trotter way  ) .

On a positive note older son is doing really well at the moment I'm very proud of him so I know there's light at the end of the tunnel with little 'un, just hard work at the mo!

So if I'm a bit absent for a while that's why, but I'm sure I'll be back before too long once I've re charged ;) .

>:D<<'> To you all - Luv Witsend.

Hi Witsend,

Hope you get your younger son's problems addressed - it's not fair that you should be facing yet more battles. Good news about your older son though.

Hope to see you around when you can make it - we'll still be here! :)

Hello witsend...just chilling on this great site and just read your post....wanted to say..how well you describe some of my days!!! know the feeling etc etc...you almost feel as if you have to go into hibernation or coccoon yourself cos it just gets too much and each morning you feel like one of those hamsters on a wheel just going through the motions....thing is....i have been honest enough to say this to a couple of people i know with nt kids and they say the same thing...and they go through the same sort of futile hoplessness with their kids and they havent got the probs our kids have and we have as parents...so i guess it is parenting with an extra challenging edge....so that makes us super parents non!!! anyway...keep your chin up and remember...summer and blue skies around the corner....maria xx new girl on the block!

Hey Witsend,

It's not been that long since my eldest AS son was also diagnosed with ADHD, and at the time his behaviour was absolutely atrocious- driving me, my OH, his teachers and himself to despair. I think Mariaterisa hit the nail on the head when she said about going into 'hibernation'-seriously, on a personal level, the worse it got the more I withdrew from the world, like a turtle retreating into its shell. At least you know that things will improve, having been through similar with your eldest- just doesn't help much at the time, does it?

We made the choice to try meds with Cal, though I know and respect the fact that thats not for everyone-however, must say its been an absolute godsend for Cal, as he can now access things he couldn't before due to his ADHD behaviours.

And at school, they are now focussing on how to help him cope with his AS/social situations etc as they're not constantly dealing with extreme aggression and hyper-induced frenzies...

I hope the DX process goes smoothly for you all, and that your littl'un gets the support he deserves. Good to hear your eldest is doing well too.

Take care,

Esther x
