Do I give them permission or what? Anyone know what they do? Hi Bikemad My son is under the Inclusion Support Section. They have two teams Social Communication Team and Behavioural Support Team. Because my son started off being seen by the Social Communication Team he was not seen by the Behaviour Officer. However, his case was discussed at the PARM meetings and advice was given from the behaviour officer. From what I can tell it depends on the individual officer. Some are good some not so good. The Inclusion Officer we were seeing is now on a years career break so the Head of the team has taken over and she is brilliant. I can't tell you whether to let your son see them or not, only that so far my experience has been good. (famous last words not doubt). As your son has a dx the Behaviour Officer should take this into account more so than your useless Head, so it could really help. Well I would like to think so anyway! Sorry if I am not of much help. Let me know what you decide. Clare <'>
Cat Report post Posted October 4, 2008 Our Behavioural Support Team usually works hand in hand with the Autism Outreach which tends to work out well for parents. It very much depends on the level of training and understanding of anyone who comes in to support our children and Behavioural Support are no different. It would concern me that the head calls in Behavioural Support after brushing off your sons problems as lazyness and naughtyness. If he is bringing in someone to address what 'he' believes is the problem with your son the I would be making sure that it is the right person. Kazzen161 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 I think it depends on the therapist. I would want to know what sort of things she would be doing with him and whether she would tell you what she was doing. Good ones can be useful - teaching him strategies to calm down, helping the school to understand him and adjust, writing reports which are good evidence. Bad ones will just expect him to change. bikemad Report post Posted October 4, 2008 The head reckons it is mainly to help with his relationships with other kids cos every day he is in being told off cos he bosses everyone n tries to control all the games etc n when he dont he goes off on one....but dont forget 'he is an angel!!!!!!' I just think well why all of a sudden so close to her saying what she did bout him not having owt wrong just being lazy etc justs makes me suss.
