JsMum Report post Posted October 5, 2008 (edited) We have been fighting for a specialist school that is 24hr curriculum and the LEA agreed to fund the placement in Early September, the school then did there assessment and due to Js complex Special Needs they required extra funding to meet the cost, the LEA took since then to decide! I have been in agony waiting for the results. Yesterday the LEA dropped in a letter telling me the extra funding has been agreed! The schools been added to part 4 with no subjections, so he is going to access his provisions and education now. His statement is also been amended in part 2, part 3 is now really tight. I have cared for J 24-7 with very little support from the Education Authority, Social Services and Mental health and cant believe we have survived it to be honest. Some days were sooo dark and cold, it was really hard, but with support from Kathryn and Flora and others here I got throw and we have what we want now. I now also have an outreach worker that is available to visit me to help me cope with the process of residential as it will cause extra mental and emotional stress. Were still set for Tribunal at the end of this month, so it may be we just attend to sign the dotted lines. I have to give a big warm, bear hug to all those who have been thinking about us, supported us and have practically helped me, so big <'> I wouldnt of got this far certainly without the support of this fabulous forum. J might start the Specialist school after the half term if things can be processed in time. We feel for the first time he has a fresh new start, his life and mine will change for ever.
