acute laryngitis

Recommended Posts

I've got Bill's first annual review on Tuesday and I've come down with a sore throat/laryngitis and can't speak at all :o . I can't make any sounds nor even whisper :( How on earth am I going to sit through a review meeting with no voice!!

I've found some anti-biotics in the cupboard which I've started to take, I'm swallowing spoonfulls of manuka honey; does anyone know of any good remedies (apart from the two mentioned) to get my voice back by Tuesday???

Flora :(

You poor thing!

>:D<<'> :(

When I had a similarly bad throat a long time ago, my GP advised me to gargle with soluble asprin, and it worked fairly quickly.

poor you!

gargling salt water (boiled) or TCP is supposed to help. (YUK) as it gets rid of the germs

gargling soluable asprin is also meant to help

Sorry to hear you have laryngitis. I expect your anxiety about not being able to speak at the annual review on Tuesday is not helping just now.

I recommend no talking rest your voice for not to do so will prolong the condition. Carry a pad and pen with you so you can still have conversations with your family.

Dr Diane can recommend the following:

* Vinegar - gargling can help wipe out many infectious organisms - use equal parts of vinegar and water.

* Suck on a slice of garlic. When sliced garlic releases the antimicorbial substance acillin which kills bacteria including

strep and dome viruses.

*Keep your throat moistened and stay hydrated. This can be with water, fruit juices or warm drinks.

I hope you find your voice for Tuesday. >:D<<'>

Vinegar and garlic - good ploy: you won't need your voice on Tuesday because the room will clear the minute you walk in. :o:rolleyes:

Seriously Flo, I hope you find something that works. >:D<<'>

Sloe gin, I've heard, cures pretty much anything

Other than that, you could try peeing in your boots......

... Or was that for athlete's foot? Dunno - but it couldn't hurt to try!

Seriously, hope you're feeling better soon :)

OMG. If I thought I was ill yesterday, that had nothing on today. Yesterday I took so many pills trying to get rid of my sore throat and to get my voice back that I think I must have damaged the lining of my stomach, and spent the whole day in agony and periodically throwing up :( How stupid can you get?

My voice has come back a bit, still very croaky but at least I can speak now.

I haven't eaten a thing for two days but I'm too scared to eat in case I throw up again

Ah well. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be well again.

Flo'

Sloe gin is the devil's doing! Whoever told you it cures anything was either lying, or under the influence of it's evil power

oh... and peeing in your boots? So that's why it took so long for your toe to heal :o:devil::lol:

I just noticed this thread. The same thing happened to me before an emergency meeting at school last school year. The Psyche who works with us and my dear other half thought it a bonus that I could not express my opinions.:lol:

Some people wish you could pass the laryngitis on to me again this week. :wallbash::wallbash::D Karen.

Edited to add....it would not stop my tappy tap complaint writing fingers though.Karen.
