Wish us luck

Recommended Posts

Well its been a long long time coming and the day is almost upon us (Tuesday ~ 11th November) when DS starts his new Asperger Specialist School.

He is feeling somewhat anxious and keeps saying he is scared and bless him because I am not feeling much better myself. We have had a fragile few days and he has really shown his insecurities, but I am so proud of him and know he can do this.

Thank you to everyone who hs been on this long journey with us, your support has been so valuable.

Wish us luck, please

Thank you everyone for your kinds wishes.....

Well after a very wobbly start at home where he wanted to die, was never ever going to eat or drink again and taking 25 minutes to put on just a T-shirt, the day went extremly well

I think the majority of the staff came to tell me how well he had done and even the receptionist said she saw him at lunch time actually eating his lunch (at the 2 day assesment would not even entertain the idea of eating with everyone, and there he was today having gammon steak, roast potatoes, steamed carrots, a roll and butter, a glass of water and a yoghurt !!!!!!) He joined in with all the lessons, albeit quietly and sat back, even went to games to watch what they were doing.

I went to my parents for the day as they live close to the school and when we got home I had an answer phone message form Connor's teacher saying how well he was doing and that I was not to worry, which I thought was very nice.

Of course he is exhausted tonight, so don't think it will be long before he is in bed, has tomorrow off and back on Thursday.

I don't think he will ever be jumping through hoops about going to school but think he is beginning to see that his new school is nothing at all like his old mainstream. He came out this afternoon very positive and happy without reeling off a load of negatives or problems, so I am very encouraged, obviously its early days but can really see him fitting in very nicely.
