dana Report post Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) Hi, my son had WHISK IV test receantly which showed very low score in Perceptual Reasoning although his verbal comprehension was OK and literacy is his strength. Does anyone have any ideas how to improve Perceptual Reasoning? He scored particularly low in Picture Concepts and Picture Complition and Matrix reasoning. Any books or websites on this subject , please! How can I help him develop it? dana Edited January 26, 2009 by dana
ian stuart-hamilton Report post Posted January 30, 2009 I think you probably mean the WISC IV test (WISC = Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, IV = fourth edition). The WISC measures different aspects of intelligence, including perceptual reasoning which is responsible for a considerable proportion (but far from all) of what the test designers consider intelligence to be. As regards how to improve perceptual reasoning, this is tricky to answer. You should notice some improvement by doing tasks similar to the ones used in the WISC, as practising skills nearly always improves them. However, how much improvement you'll see in a specific individual I wouldn't like to guess. If you have a look at some of the 'test your own IQ' type books and books on improving visuo-spatial skills and similar, you may find some handy exercises. Hope this helps.
