One is gobsmacked to announce .....

Recommended Posts

That one has been invited to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party in July!!!!! Scuse me a moment ...

:dance::bounce::bounce::groupwave::bounce::bounce::dance:

There, thats better

Don't go thinking that the queen took one look at my sterling services in supporting my local off licence & thought, we have to have Pearl this year. No, I'm there as a corporate wife - its mr p's invite, his reward for 30 unstinting years as a job advisor. :notworthy:

Even better - if you have children between the ages of 18 & 25, they are invited too. Mine are 19 & 24. Must be Karma

Expect many etiquette stylee questions from me twixt now & July. Mind you, how you peasants would know is anyone's guess :lol:

:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

We will expect to be fully consulted on choice of headwear, shoes, dress and bag now. :D

This is it isn't it? The end of the aristocracy and Britain can become a republic again :notworthy:

July though - why that only gives you four months to find an outfit. Quickly, to BHS kid's department...

Good news though Pearl but please, please, please try to be sober that day and don't show us northerners up

Oh and you're expected to call her 'Liz luv' - I've checked and it's true

Kick a Corgi for me!

I bet it'll be right port out starboard home - they'll probably have quiche and everything! Chicken drum sticks, scotch eggs... And you won't have to eat your crusts because they'll probably have cut them off already!

Hee heee. Still fizzing with excitement

I do solemnly promise:

To stay away from the alcohol

To sit at a table rather than dance on it or slide under it

To get mr p to check for cress in my teeth before talking to Her Maj

To refrain from making a drunken pass at Prince Philip. (Well, I've always liked older men)

Just think - I'll be the forum representative  Is this wise?

I'll keep you all posted - I'm fully intending to wring every drop of enjoyment out of this

Never mind the P's and Q's, it's the G and T's that'll be more of a problem

Have a great time and I'm happy to help with any hat questions as I think I'm our only resident milliner.

Ooh ooh yes please. I'm a shortarse & need a hat that doesnt make me look like a button mushroom but will protect me from the sun (hollow laugh). Any ideas on shapes?

Well I'm no expert, but head - shaped is a good bet I think. Otherwise it slides off when you're doing your curtsey. :)

And remember it's "Mam" to rhyme with "ham", not "Maaaaam" to rhyme with "farm".

...Or is it the other way round?

Ham, I think.

It was announced at mr p's workplace yesterday. His colleagues were doing the "royal wave" to him every time they passed his desk!

A brim of a hat should not be wider than your shoulders unless you are off to ascot.

As for shapes it depends on your face shape, I have some info on my PC upstairs I will try and remember to sort it out for you, you are more than welcome to ask any question shame your not on Teesside or you could come and play with my hats.

Don't do what Michelle Obama did today . Did anyone see? After the photoshoot she put her arm around the Queen.

:o:o:o

Poor old HM was quite shocked I think! Especially as MO was about twice her height.

Thankyou  theres a hat hire place down the road from us, thought I'd take my dress there & see what they could come up with.

Mr p brought home a copy of his boss's recommendation today. It brought a lump to my throat. I had no idea he was so good at his job :notworthy:

Oooh, details of your outfit, please!!

Hope the weather holds for you >:D<<'>

Boho

Ok - the dress is the one I wore for my neices wedding back in March - kind of gold/pewter colour, Jackie O stylee, high waist, v neck, mesh back.

Hat: cream, smallish brim, feathery thingy on hat band, lil bit of sparkly woven through.

Pashmina: cream with lil bits of sparkly gold woven in, weighted with sequins but not too sparkly.

Bag: charity shop bargain: small bucket style, goldy brocade.

Shoes: minky coloured satin, roses on the toeses, kitten heels.

We can't take pics but you can get an official one done, so if I don't look too hideous I'll post it (I'll be the one doubled up in pain)

Good afternoon peasants.

No need to stand on ceremony, we who hobnob with royalty are quite at ease talking to the "little people"

One will post a full report when one has a moment

When you eventually take off your gloves and hat, and have a moment, the little people below stairs would love to hear about your day. :)

Ok I need techy help if I am to share the gorgeousness that is my hat with you. How do I get pics on here? I have them on photobucket, I've tried copying & pasting in insert image & insert link, but it won't "take". Any ideas?

From your album page (i.e. the page that shows small images of all your images with something like edit, move, share, delete above each):

  1. hold mouse pointer over picture you want (don't click)
2. below the picture will come up a number of sharing options - icons to link to Facebook etc as well as a list of codes: Email and IM, Direct Link, etc...
  3. move your cursor over and click somewhere in the middle of the code next to 'direct link' (you do not need to highlight in the normal way and don't worry that you can't see it all)
  4. the whole code will be highlighted blue
  5. I think it copies automatically, but just to be sure ctrl + c on your keyboard
  6. then, in a post in here use that copied address in the usual [ url= copied thing here ] Blah Blah Pretty Picture [ /url] (but without the spaces of course)

You should get: Old Photobucket Picture
