samh76 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 Hello everyone, I have just joined this site and thought I would introduce myself. I have a 6 year old son who I think has Aspergers. The school have now noticed too. He has been on an IEP for his social issues and concentration problems for 3 months and has made no improvement. We have now decided to go to our GP for a referral and to get him a formal diagnosis. I am worried about the appointment tomorrow and worried that he won't get a referral, any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you all and I look forward to getting to know you over the coming months Tomsmum

bluefish Report post Posted February 5, 2010 welcome to the forum Good luck today. Like others have said, take a list of your concerns, things you notice at home and the things at school even if they seem small, it all helps to build a picture.
samh76 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 Thank you so much all of you. We are back from the GP, we made a list of our concerns and took the IEP along too. She feels there is a case for referral and is going to contact the community peadiatrician (sp??!) on our behalf. I will keep you posted on our progress. I feel a mixture of sadness and relief to be honest. I just want to be able to get out son the help that he needs so that he can flourish and be happy. Thanks again
