JsMum Report post Posted July 11, 2010 (edited) How much will it cost the Government to put 1.8 million people (the total number currently on DLA) through a medical assessment? How does this increased cost (and the expected cost of rise in appeals) relate to the expected savings? What about the amount that goes back into the pot because of unclaimed DLA, where people dont even know there entitled to DLA. JsMumx Found this link about state benefits unclaimed and this was in the billions, and this was 3yrs ago, so I have a feeling the money could be available for the 1.8 million people for DLA reassessments because billions of benefit are left unclaimed, so this could leave the goverment with surplus money to fund the DLA reassessments. http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2007/apr/1...socialexclusion JsMumx Edited July 11, 2010 by JsMum

Mumble Report post Posted July 11, 2010 apparently they are lookng for a 50% reduction in people claiming DLA !!!!!!!!!! I heard 1/5, i.e 20%. An individual is unlikely to go from high rate to nothing, so people are more likely to move from low to nothing or down a band. If 20% of the current 1.8 million move in this way, how does the saving compare to the costs associated with carrying out 1.8 million medical assessments? zenemu Report post Posted July 11, 2010 Yes 1 in 5 is the current goal. We haven't heard any more yet. I will let you all know when we do.
JsMum Report post Posted July 11, 2010 If people where getting high rate care then to nothing then it is highly likely Tribunal cases will increase also, which is vastly expensive too, sad thing is though Many are not able to fight to tribunal and give up, not coninuing with the battle of receiving thier entitlements.
