KLP Report post Posted August 28, 2010 I was sent a form to fill in to start the course in September but it will interfere with nursery pick up of my younger one and I really wanted to hear from parents was it worth attending so that I can arrange a babysitter to help. I read through the summary of what is to be achieved and is nothing new I havent read.
KezT Report post Posted August 28, 2010 I was sent a form to fill in to start the course in September but it will interfere with nursery pick up of my younger one and I really wanted to hear from parents was it worth attending so that I can arrange a babysitter to help. I read through the summary of what is to be achieved and is nothing new I havent read. I found it realy useful - although a bit of a bind re childcare etc! the info we were given has been referred to months/years later and we are still in touch with a couple of the other parents we met there. The attendance of an LSA from the school really helped us and them too. Having said that, there was a lot of stuff that did not apply to us as the course covers all ASDs, but I wouldrecommend it to anyone with an ASD child. Ours offered to help with child care costs - it's not publicised, but they said they have a small fund avaiable if necessary;)

Karen A Report post Posted August 28, 2010 Hi. My husband and myself have found all of the NAS courses we have done very helpful. I already knew most of the information having been here for a while. However I found it very useful to get to know other parents and professionals in the area. Ben has always been at mainstream school.Although I know another parent with a son with AS at the same school it can still feel very lonely at times.I found it very helpful to know that other parents shared similar frustrations. Karen.
