Karen A Report post Posted September 18, 2010 (edited) Do you have an ignore button, for instance if you dont want to see posts by a particular person, or a way to block people from contacting you or adding to a thread you started? Hi. If you have had one PM and do not want any more from that member then you can certainly block further ones. There is a BLOCK heading [in red] on the far top left of the page the PM is on. Just click on it. Also if you click on your user name a heading comes down '' Manage Ignored users'' . Using that heading you can opt to ''ignore posts'' or ''ignore pms''. If you click on the reply button at the bottom of a post you can then read through the thread and the posts from the ''ignored '' person will be ignored. If you feel a particular post may be breaking Forum rules or is not helpful you can also report it and request a moderator opinion. Karen. baddad Report post Posted September 18, 2010 (edited) Yes, you can set up the boards so you don't have to see a particular members content. It is an option I've suggested in the past to people who have PM'd me objecting to my posts, though for my own part i've always felt it is counterproductive, because IMO all opinions are valid, even if their not ones you want to hear. You can block individual members from the PM system too, but I would urge anyone who's ever received an unsolicited and unwelcome or rude message from anyone to advise the moderators. It would seem pointless (IMO) blocking a member who has never PM'd you, but surprisingly I have heard of people doing this! To my knowledge there is no way of 'stopping' somebody from posting in a thread you start. Hope that helps L&P BD Edited September 18, 2010 by Kathryn To remove off topic comments
Tally Report post Posted September 18, 2010 You can prevent a person from PMing you and you can set it so a person's posts won't be visible to you. You cannot prevent a person from replying to your thread. First click on your name in the top right-hand corner of the boards. A drop-down list will appear. Click on "My settings" Just underneath "Your Options" click on "profile" From the list on the left, click on "manage ignored users" There you can type in the person's username and select whether you wish to ignore this person's personal conversations (PMs), posts, or both. call me jaded Report post Posted September 18, 2010 If anybody is uncertain about whether a post is within the forum Guidelines and Rules there is always the Report button at the bottom left of each post. Moderators have a lot of posts to read and sometimes skim through threads, so using the report button would give us a helping hand.
Kathryn Report post Posted September 18, 2010 To add to what Jaded said, if a post worries you, hit the report button. That way all the mods get alerted at once and response may be swifter, as whoever is online first can deal with it. Sometimes people pm a particular mod, but all of us have busy lives and that individual may not be able to pick up pm's till much later. K x
