kwjd Report post Posted March 31, 2011 Yesterday we had an appointment at the hospital with the drs that have been seing my son a few times and they have reached a diagnosis.. i thought this was quite fast so i was worried they have only seen my son twice once in a play session at the hospital and once once in school. I was told it moved faster than normal because my son is seeing a special needs speech therapist for some time and she has sent them a report as well as some other people that have been involved with my son. So the diagnosis Autism! Not that we where suprised we knew that was the case but it fealt good to know that its "official" I have already been in touch with Banardos who have been very helpful and given me info and advice. And today when I took my son to school the teacher who is the SENCO told me the dr called yesterday and we have an appointment for everyone involved with my son on the 13 April. So things are moving along .. just not sure wthat will happen.. after!!!
mummycanhandleit Report post Posted March 31, 2011 That's great KWJD, I am sure it is nearly like closure to have all your worries put down in a medical term, hopefully noe the professionals will start to help your son throughout every difficulty he has. I wish everyone could be so lucky to get things moving this quickly. Take care xxx
baddad Report post Posted March 31, 2011 Congrats (that always sounds odd, but you'll know what i mean!) on a firm dx... Even when it's what you expect, confirmation can come back and bite you on the bum in quiter moments. Don't feel guilty if that happens, and focus on all the positives that 'knowing' brings. BethK Report post Posted March 31, 2011 Glad you have a diagnosis! Don't be afraid to 'speak up' with the specialists invovled. Especially if you feel something is not working, stick to your guns x
