Hi Glen is settled in at home ok, he did hit his head initially just after getting home but has been ok since, he is quite tired as it is a long journey for him about 3 hours. Hopefully he will sleep well tonight.

Hi guys the weekend was a bit mixed. Glen seemed ok Friday and most of Saturday, he had a mc.donalds meal that his sister brought round and he went on the swing in the garden, but he started to become unsetttled on Saturday afternoon and through Sunday. In fact he packed his back pack that he brought with him on Sunday afternoon which meant he wanted to go back to the home :( so it made me feel sad in one way but in the other I guess it means he is happy in the home which is good. Glen hurried through Sunday, we couldn't keep him downstairs after 7.30, so let him go up to bed to get undressed etc. The staff picked him up today about 12.30 and he's now settled back at the home. It was nice to have Glen home again but I realise now more than ever that I definitely made the right decision in putting him in residential care.

Jeanne on so many levels your post is very positive for Glen in how he responded going back to the home, that is success in many ways, I know its terribly distressing for you though, you know deep down you did do your absalout best, it was probably overwhelming for Glen too to be back home for the weekend as well, its great news Glen has setteled back at the home and having Glen for a short period has made you realised you made the right decision with resi that meets all his needs as it isnt care, its provision and support for Glen and his family.xxx

Hi Jeanne

We have finally identified a 52wk Residential specialist school, The 52wk residential specialist school run by The priory Group have assessed J and have offered J a place.

Its big day because its judgement day where the Commissioning panel meet to dicuss funding as Js 52wk placement has to be funded by Health, Care and Education, when J was in a 38wk provision it was just funded by Education so the 52wk provision has to be funded by all the services, so today is a big day. fingers crossed, wont know probably until tomorrow though.

Js statement draft statement is finalised today and the LEA have already agreed that J attends a 52wk school part 4 is blank at present so today were hoping for the priory group school to be named today on his statement in part 4.

I hate the not knowing bit, the tention and build up is a great strain and the pressure is emense sometimes I think my head will bust with the tension.

It is well recognised now that Js needs are a 52wk provision if the priory group school is named today he begins after the half term and starts a fresh in the summer holidays, probably because funding has already been agreed for his present 38wk residential school that he attends part time so will probably wait until that has finally ended.

so J could be in a new residential school in months time.

Were so nervious for waiting for the final decision.

Will let you know the decision as soon as I do, the whole basis of agreeing an ICO is so J accessess a 52wk specialist Residential School to meet ALL his special educational needs.

Hi Glen is coming home tomorrow for the weekend again. :D He is very much enjoying riding his bike around the grounds of the residential home this week and staff took him out to chose a cycle helmet which he loves wearing. I will let you all know how the weekend goes this time. Glen is only having 2 nights at home as the manager of the residential home thought it would be best. Glen will arrive around mid-day ish tomorrow and return to the residential home late Sunday afternoon.

Jeanne my heart breaks reading your posts about Glen. I can't put it all into words correctly but I admire the strength you've had to have and still need for it all.

Wow well he certainly sounds happier and having his own bike will have done wonders to help him along the way, its fab he doesnt mind wearing a Helmetxxx good luck with Glen coming home, I visit J this weekend too, The time has flown by, cant believe its already two week ago that he started his new school.

Im staying the weekend in a lovely lakeside youth hostel close by his school, J has settled in with no problems, staff have said its like he has lived there for ever. The staff take him to the Park everyday and they have their own facilities for activies as well to keep him entertained. I feel better within myself too now Ive got time to do the things I otherwise wouldnt when caring for J full time. It sure does help a lot when we know their well cared for and happy. Good Luck to Glen coming homexxxx

So glad that you've found that peace of mind that you so deserve. I know it's still tough for you, but to be able to trust so much in those caring for your lad must be an enormous weight off your mind. Hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Look forward to hearing all about how it went. >:D<<'>

Hi ladies thanks for all your kind words. Glen did seem anxious yesterday on his arrival home and didn't eat much lunch. After lunch I took him out for a ride and we stopped at a shop so he could chose and ice lolly which he. We later returned home and Glen went outside on his swing and trampoline, lots of smiles out there. He was much better since taking him out, so it worked! Last time he was home Glen was only on the swing a couple of minutes this time it was much longer.

Today, my daugter is coming round and we are having a lovely lunch with all the goodies Glen enjoys, i.e. pizza, sausage rolls, bread rolls, cakes, etc, picnic type lunch inside due to the weather! I will keep you posted on how the rest of the weekend goes.

It's wonderful that Glen is able to get out and ride a bike, exercise is so good and to get outside in the fresh air really boosts the mood and brings a sense of well-being, which he is obviously benefitting from. I'd really love it if my lad could ride a bike, but we tried and tried and he just could not get the hang of it and now he refuses to have another go. Keep up the good work, getting him out and about.

Well i suppose that it takes a good few hours, maybe days? for him to adjust again , i know it does with my boy, it is like he has to work it all out his mind somehow, then become happy/acceptable of it, and then he will manage ok, even smile! i think once he has been out (wherever) he then accepts whats at home and sort of settles. I too wish my lad would ride a bike, (but then i have never ridden one so never encouraged it) they have tried it at school and college but he seems happier if someone else is peddling and he can sit to the side or back!, rather someone else does the work! Hope the weekend goes well x

Hi Lisa, and everyone. Glen has seemed a bit unsettled today, he did enjoy the lunch and seeing his sister, but he has definitely been rushing through the day there is no doubt. He did go on his swing in the garden again. So overall the day has gone ok, I will miss him when he goes back tomorrow afternoon.

Glen went back ok on Sunday afternoon and has settled in well again. I will be seeing him again on Friday as hubby and I have a meeting at the home with the manager and Glen's social worker to discuss Glen's progress and what the aims are for the future. :D
