A and A Report post Posted September 24, 2011 hi we have a 4 yr old child with asd who for safety reasons has his mattress on the floor as he falls out of his bed when on the frame and when we tried with bed rails he went over the top of them, what we are looking for is something to put around the head of the bed and along the side to stop him banging his head and legs on the wall while he is asleep as this then wakes him up and it takes 2hrs to get him back to sleep again, looking forward to any solutions to this problem. Mumble Report post Posted September 24, 2011 I think you'd have to be careful that anything used wasn't a suffocation risk. Could you move the mattress away from the wall? I have extra large/long pillows (I think they may be designed for a double bed?) along the head/wall by my bed as I have seizures during the night but I'm not sure they would be very durable if a child wanted to damage them. Sally44 Report post Posted September 24, 2011 (edited) As well as any bed frame that might keep him in bed, have you ever tried weighted blankets? Sometimes the extra weight helps them get to sleep and stay asleep. Your Autism Outreach Teacher or Community Occupational Therapist might have one you can try before you buy, or some companies allow you to try before you buy.
