Viper Report post Posted July 5, 2005 Yep thats right I have got one for Ben at last, with 4 specialists for the 21st. It's a bit daunting not least cos I have to go to London on the train, Ben has never been on a train and it will be in rush hour, I also have to go without my hubby who is away in France that week. We did ask to change the appointment but it will be months before all 4 doctors are able to be there again. I also have a confession to make, I don't like public transport, to the point where I have a panic attack, busses or trains terrifie me. I had a few bad experiences when I was younger, getting on the wrong bus and finding myself stranded, having to be picked up by my dad. I am fine in a car or if someone is with me on public transport, just as long as I am not in charge. My DD 17 had to take me on a bus only a few weeks ago because I couldn't go on my own. I can't drive either so I am pretty much stranded where I live in the country. I have got a friend to come with me to Guys or I would not have gone, no matter how much I know Ben needs this DX. Kathryn Report post Posted July 5, 2005 Hi Viper, I'm glad you've got your appointment at last. I'm sure you and your son will be in good hands. My daughter was diagnosed by a wonderful specialist from Guys, although we did not go to the hospital itself. I hope the day goes smoothly and with the minimum amount of stress. It's good you have someone to go with you and support you. Easier said than done, but try not to worry in the meantime. K
Viper Report post Posted July 5, 2005 Thanks Kathryn, The important thing is Ben gets a dx before he goes to school, then maybe we can get more recognition that he needs help. Viper.
tizzmeclare Report post Posted July 5, 2005 Hi Viper, Good News, glad to hear you've got your appointment. Thinking about how daunted you feel about going to London on public transport, it might be an idea to have a friend you trust in back up, ready to go, just in case your first friend can't make it on the day. Hope it all goes well, tizz

BusyLizzie100 Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Hi, I just had to say that my son was diagnosed at Guy's and they were brilliant. We were there three or four hours and they just 'got' him like no one else has. All the best!
big mamma Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Hi Viper, Great news you've now got your appointment. I know what you mean about public transport - I thought it was only me that had these problems !!

Viper Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Thanks everyone, I hope the train is not too full, at least we will get on first so we will have a seat. Tizz, if my friend(my matron of honor and witness at my wedding) can't make it for some reason my dd 17 will go with us so we will get there if it's the last thing I ever do. Viper. nellie Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Viper, Have you thought of getting a first class ticket on the train? We did this when taking our son to London during the early morning rush. It was well worth the extra cost to get the luxury of the first class compartment. I hope everything goes smoothly. Nellie <'>
Viper Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Hi Nellie, My husband is a train driver so we get free travel, I will ring and seeif we can get a first class compartment, if I explain the problems they might let us upgrade. Viper.
