Replying to Posts

Recommended Posts

If you want to reply to a post without quoting, you can use the dark blue "Add Reply" button at the very end of the thread. Using the pale blue "Reply" button on the individual post results in quoting the entire post you are replying to. Quoting is useful if you want to refer to something in the post. But if you just want to add your own reply to the end of the thread, please use the dark blue button at the bottom instead.

It can also be useful to have a look at the date of the post you are replying to. If the thread has been several months without a reply, the conversation is probably done and dusted. In some cases, the original posters may not even post here any more. If you want to discuss something and there are no recent threads on the same topic, it probably warrants a new thread of its own.

If you want to practice using the forum or ask any questions about how the forum works, you can try out the brand new forum practice thread here: http://www.asd-forum.org.uk/forum/Index.php?/topic/27429-forum-practice-thread/page__pid__315606#entry315606
