A-S warrior Report post Posted July 24, 2012 feel trapped like no where to go..... i had the situation sized up before i even read this topic. ive seen so many anorexia suffers and pepole with eating disorders over the years, i know every trick in the book, they,ll try anything. its not them, its the eating disorder playing its dirty little trick, its one of the worsed things to live with if you suffer from it. it really is like being in a prison in your own body. your own mind torchers you. the only cure is education, which is why i recommended biology and nutrition courses. science is your best friend, because science has the true awnsers you are looing for. robert7111a Report post Posted July 24, 2012 Oddly enough I like the odd spoonful of molasses. Bit like marmite: you either love it or you hate it. Warrior, I would welcome a topic to do with eating disorders, perhaps it might change the mindset of one or two members of this forum. How do you manage to fast for so long Warrior? The most I manage is about 8 hours during the summer with just water to drink. I could not fast and then eat a big meal as I would feel my stomach would have shrunk. For me, eating little but often works. Having said that, for the last month, I have not been snacking during the day. I have been on a sort-of Atkins diet but supplement with fruit and veg, garlic, fish oils etc. I have to lose at least 1 stone but would like to lose 2 if possible. SmileyK, you have been advised several times by many on this forum, please listen (read) what is said (written) rather than dismiss or ignore it. Be proactive, do research and like uncle Warrior says, study human physiology and nutrition. I have a broad knowledge of human physiology and currently reading up a fascinating text on the causes of obesity and why people can't lose weight from dieting. It's not about cutting calories, its about the quality of what you eat and in the right doses. I won't claim to know as much as Warrior about macronutrients etc but I do know what is harmful to the human body and look very closely at food ingredients. There are many harmful substances put into foods to (mainly) make it taste better but the long term effects of this is twofold: obesity and dumbing down of society. SmileyK, I would hope you and your friend are intelligent individuals. Don't follow the latest diet craze because Lady Gaga or Jennifer Aston are pushing it. Do some research and if you feel this particular diet is really for you, then as LancsLad says, nobody is going to stop you. But if your friend falls ill, then you/she have been warned... robert7111a Report post Posted July 24, 2012 How it an mistake? How will she learn from it? SmileyK Please read my previous post regarding MSG. Baby food has it and it is a known neurotoxin. This is why if your friend eats baby food, it will be a terrible mistake.
LancsLad Report post Posted July 24, 2012 Smiley you are right, you are trapped, trapped by your own thinking. Untill you find the strength to challenge the part of you who thinks this way you will have nowhere to go. As forum mebers all we can do is either come on here and offer examples of what has worked in our own lives, or even through PM. But if you continue to listen to that side of you which tells you we are all wrong and don't know what we are talking about then things will not change for you. I like others on this forum have had to face my own eating issues today. I had to make choices and today I have more or less made good ones. I went away and made myself a healthy tea of prawns and stir fry vegetables with rice in a chili and garlic sauce after a previous post. I have a side of me who wants to control what I eat and so i give it the job of working out the calories and nutritional breakdown for me. For interest my evening meal was 649 calories, 53% carbohydrate, 25% Protein and 22% healthy fat, olive oils natural fish oils. I have had to challenge my thought patterns and modify them. I have just had a tunna sandwitch on a wholemeal bap and as such I am set up for tomorrow and what I want to do. For me it is about accepting the control aspects of my personality and using them to my advantage and not disadvantage.
robert7111a Report post Posted July 24, 2012 I meant to add (and now I'm going to wave my big stick!)... I will spell it out to you SmileyK. A neurotoxin is something that is toxic to the nervous system (i.e. neurones, cells etc). MSG causes a spike in the neurotransmitter "glutamate" which can be detrimental. It makes people more sensitive to light/sound, it causes dizziness/ringing in the ears, MSG over the long term is linked to Alzeimers (like mercury), schizophrenia, mood disorders, it can make you go mad. Need I go on?
A-S warrior Report post Posted July 24, 2012 @robert7111a fasting is all about being in tune with your body and not listening to your mind, you soon know the difference between false hunger and real hunger, i cant explian it but it is different. im very happy to hear that your clued up and enjoy human physiology, with that tool in your back pocket you can rest assured you will reach your fittness goals, with that understanding you may even exceed your original goal. consider an eating disorder topic done rob, i,ll have it the works tonight while my brain is buzzing. LancsLad Report post Posted July 24, 2012 Smiley the value judgements of your friend need to be looked at why a size 6? I know why I want to loose weight, its because i want to be able to generate a power level both cycling and running which will enable me to go below 10 hours and qualify for a world championship in my chosen sport. Whilst the majority of people on this planet do not share my dreams I feel I can at least justify my diet targets at a sporting level even if at a lifestyle level and one of all round health they may not stack up as easily. In fact I have come to a compromise about my diet and that I only need to push it to these levels in the lead up to competition, to try and live this way 52 weeks of the year is simply not healthy. I can explain my thoughts can you please explain the need to be size 6?

A-S warrior Report post Posted July 24, 2012 You have now got a large section of the female population on your case A-S Warrior all the ones outside these parameters, I have to give it to you, you are a lot braver than me. im a man that knows what he likes about his women, i like love handles, i like muffin tops, i like a bit of a tummy, and i like a slightly chubby face. but i dont like the woman to be too fat though, or too slim. plus the women who retain a little bit of fat always have the nicest breasts. (not that that is the be all and end all)

Warrior, I have only recently reminded myself the difference between false and real hunger. I used to eat certain things at certain times due to habit/work etc even if I didn't feel hungry. But I also found that often when I did eat, I still felt hungry and this was purely eating the wrong stuff (out of habit) causing a spike in insulin and then a dip in blood sugar (and feeling hungry again). But under my "new plan", I am eating less, eating better quality food and not feeling hungry. I really can't wait for your new thread. LancsLad, you hit the nail on the head with the mindset thing. SmileyK's "friend" needs to change the way she thinks and feels about herself. Only then can she "do" what she feels is right. But also SmileyK needs to change her mind to accept friendly advice and act upon it but I do fear that she might think we are all against her.
