damonshouse Report post Posted September 5, 2014 I have been on 50mg of Sertraline for over a year now and I have decided to come off them. I am now down to 1/2 a tablet every other day. I am feeling ok. I do have anxious moments, but generally I am ok. I want to learn how to live with my Asperger's and try to live as normal life as possible without the need for medication. So far so good.

Livelife Report post Posted June 2, 2015 I was told by my doctor that I was depressed and put on medication which I took for over two years before I found a different doctor who had an understanding of autism and could see that depression was not the correct diagnosis. I found that the medications did very little to improve things, I would say that they made me feel strange detached from me if that makes sense to you. My situation has only improved due to understanding my autism and excepting it, my life is not easier, it's now I understand why I am like I am and that does make a big difference in your like. Medications are good in the right circumstances but it is far better not to be on them if at all possible, there is no cure for autism unfortunately so we have to learn to live with it and adapt and change life styles accordingly. I know some people will be unable to do this but if there is any chance you can live life without them then in my opinion it's the best thing to do.
