Social Skills Training Programme - Adults with autism

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

We have found from talking to many adults with autism that they have struggled over the years to meet and maintain friendships and relationships. This may have caused recurrent depression and low mood and often left the individual feeling isolated.

At the Tuke Centre in York we are offering a new group social skills training programme starting in February, 2015. It is called SocialEyes and is an accredited National Autistic Society Programme and NICE approved. It is a weekly 6 month programme designed to help individuals to develop and work on their social interaction and communication skills. If you are interested or know anyone that is, please contact the Tuke Centre on 01904 430370 or email v.hughes@thetukecentre.org.uk

Hi Mel,

That's a shame, the group will be held in York so it may be difficult to travel from such a long way. You are right skill based groups like this should be available nationally. It might be worth checking with the autism directory on here to see if there are any more local services nearer to you.

Kind Regards,

Victoria

Victoria, if you are advertising services, it's part of the forum guidelines to contact the mods first before you post.

Also, you should make it clear that these services aren't for free.

This is an interesting development although I would prefer that the NAS wasn't involved.

What exactly does this social skills training programme consist of?
