michbooth Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Hi, My AS/ADHD son has been on the GF/CF diet for 6 months following the urine test at Autism research centre at Sunderland. We have since had him tested against 113 foods at YORKTEST lab as he has eczema and they have advised that he is very intolerant to cows milk, gluten, soya and sunflower seeds, as well as eggs, fish and peanuts/cashew nuts. Does anyone know of a spread that does not include any of these as I have looked everywhere and cannot find one. Also does anyone know of a suitable milk substitute as rice milks that I have looked at contain sunflower oil. Yours in desperation, Michelle
sue1957 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Any allergy to coconuts? I am using coconut oil, which is solid when cold, I just spread it like butter to give a bit of moisture in a sandwich because I hate dry food. Doesn't really have a flavour but helps stick the filling to the bread! I am also using it for cooking sometimes as a change from olive oil. There are supposed to be health benefits http://www.mercola.com and search coconut oil brings up several articles or http://www.coconutoil.com/coconut_oil_21st_century.htm I have also used creamed coconut to make a "milk," (mix with water and stir, then leave for a bit and strain) or you can buy tinned coconut milk, I think there's some unsweetened ones about. Water anything down to taste, OK on cereals etc. Might be worth a try. Sue
call me jaded Report post Posted September 14, 2005 I think you're getting into the realms of making your own. That's just a joke It sounds as if you could adopt the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) to suit your needs. Elaine Gottschall's website is here: http://www.pecanbread.com/ She passed away very recently. Natasha Campbell-McBride's Gut and Psycology (GAP) is also worth reading. Sorry I have absolutely NO sensible input on this one, But I do wish you the very VERY best in your search for alternatives... L&P BD

I will look into the diet and I am frantically looking at labels on everything, like someone who has lost the plot. My son says I am trying to ruin his life, poor thing. Anyway I am sure we will get by when I have got used to it all! Thanks again Michelle
