joshanddanfans Report post Posted September 26, 2005 hi,just wondered what ages your children started medication. i have a 6 year old who started ritalin at 5 (aspergers, dyspraxia, adhd, sensory dysfunction) this has worked wonders for him and calmed things right down, and kept him in mainstream school. however we are very concerned about our 4 1/2 year old son now as with josh calmer he stands out more than his brother now and appears to have synmptoms of all cond brother has.,if not worse. He is being referred directly to consunlt and sppeech therapy via school but took 3 years for josh to be diagnosed, dont think we will make it that long. does he have to wait till nearlt 6 to try meds as life is geting unbearable recently. i am not one to chuck meds down kids but with two asd kids and a baby life is a struggle for example can take us one 90 minutes to get all three kids in car on path. any ideas. lil_me Report post Posted September 30, 2005 (edited) My son started on Ritalin at 5, might be best to wait and see what the consultant suggests, some won't prescribe until 6 I am told. Express your concerns on diagnosis when you go to try to make sure it doesn't take quite so long. Edited September 30, 2005 by lil_me
