Sounds like fighting talk to me - do you know if any professionals that were involved in the statutory assessment made any recommendations that would support your preference?

Hi Fiorelli

Try not to get into conversations with the LEA - get everything in writing.

I would seriously urge that you get IPSEA or NAS to help you.

The onus will be on you to provide the evidence that Y school will meet your childs needs and of course the LEA will have 'superb' evidence on why X school is better. It is a struggle and you need the big guns to help. You are dealing with people who will use every trick in the book to save money.

When they finalise the statement, ask them to email it to you as well as a hard copy.

I found this invaluable when sending it to and fro to NAS and my witnesses.

Deep breaths and prepare to do battle :ninja:

I have to agree that NAS are very good. Deep breaths, think twice before each step; it's a game of chess and you mustn't let them think you are ruffled by any of it. I must say i ###### hate these types though.

Good Luck

you need to look at and see what is documented that each school can provide. Then it is up to you to say you want X school because it can meet your childs needs better. Or state the other school only have .........children with ASD the number of staff trained with ASD is.............. therefore you know school ,................will be more suitable to your childs needs. Also you child will not have to have transport provided. You child does not like traveling in cars as he gets travel sick. He would have to get use to an escort in the taxi which would cause him added stress.

It will be worth asking how many staff are trained in ASD and what type of course and how long was the course.

It would be worth a visit to your doctor requesting medication for travel sickness. That way it is documented in his notes (Having things documented to support your argument is very beneficial).

At the meeting tell them verbally and in writing what school you want and you will be willing to go to tribunal.

I make a note of the conversation (you could cut and paste from here!) and send it to the officer as a record of the telephone conversation we had on _____ about ______ and ask them to let me know whether I have misunderstood anything that was said ... if they ring again I send another note with that one on - stops them trying to bully you over the phone :fight: and also gives you a written record if required. Sometimes they don't bother to reply and then you can say - 'Ah - but you didn't disagree with my record of the converstaion" ... should the need arise
