BusyLizzie100 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Can't believe it, but ds2 went tenpin bowling today! He was desperate to attend the holiday playscheme today and even the bowling trip couldn't put him off. He'd never been before and it's probably his idea of hell: all that noise, people bustling about and cheering etc (he's 6 1/2, ASD). But he took his ear protectors and came back in one piece - with a big smile on his face! He even coped with the balloons at the bowling place! I think the fact that they were pink took some of the horror out of them. I'm so proud of my little darling! Despite the big smile he looked pretty stunned at the end of it, though, and we'll probably pay for it tomorrow. Never mind - he's having a sleepover at Grandma's tomorrow so dh and I can go out! (translate as: get some sleep). It'll probably take him weeks to process that little lot! But it's all worthwhile when he said at bedtime: 'Oh, I'm having such a lovely holiday.' (Wonder if he'll say that after his visit to Grandma's, bless him!)
westie Report post Posted April 7, 2006 (edited) Its fantastic Glad he is so happy and long may it continue! Kids can surprise even the most cynical of us - my son wants to do everything perfect first time, and he went roller skating with me a couple of years ago and I had to pull him off the rink after about 10 mins as he was getting so mad, but in Feb this year, he went ice skating with school and despite the fact he fell down about every 10 seconds at first he did not get mad or upset and just carried on regardles WHAT A STAR And we went again a couple of weeks ago to a party and he was exactly the same but he had got loads more confidence and therefore was making real progress. Its great when things go well for them isn't it?? Edited April 7, 2006 by westie

Kathryn Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Wonderful Lizzie, as you say, it's a pretty chaotic environment, so it's a huge achievement for him. I hope he enjoys the rest of the holiday and I hope you enjoy your night off tomorrow. K x
