Name that tune.

Recommended Posts

How about guessing these......

Easy peasy for you ageing hippies out there:

Oh, the snot has caked against my pants

It has turned into crystal

There's a bluebird sitting on a branch

I guess I'll take my pistol

I've got it in my hand

Because he's on my land

And so the story ended

Do you know it oh so well

Well should you need I'll tell you

The end-end-end-end-end-end-end-end

And...

Simon

It's LOVE - forever changes... But which song??? Live and Let Live! (had to double check!)

So:

Well it's a bruising, shattering ride

But I cannot deny myself this luxury

Yes it's a bruising shattering ride,

But I cannot deny myself the luxury...

His autobiograhy is a must-read BTW, have you read it?

Didn't know he had, I'll have to look it up! The only book I knew about was that huge one on ancient burial sites and stuff...

Thought that was easy, 'cos the next lyric is the title:

"East Easy Rider" from Peggy Suicide...

Is it me again? and easy one then:

In her itsy bitsy teeny weeny

riding up her butt bikini...

Baddad sorry to go back to your

"You know who I am" he said

The speaker was an angel

He coughed and shook his crumpled wings

Closed his eyes and moved his lips

"It's time I should be going'

But when I googled the lyrics I found myself on a Goldfrapp forum. They said the lyrics were from a track called Bodo from the princess and the warrior OST sung by Alison Goldfrapp.

Well I never! Well Alison does like a bit of retro (fnar fnar - along with a large portion of rabbit stew ;) ), so I imagine it's an 'extrapolation' of the original, which is 'look back in anger, by DB, track 2, side 2, "Lodger" between 'I am a DJ' (kiss kiss) and 'Boys keep swinging' (BOYS!...)

You're going to reap just what you sow,

Perfect day by Lou Reed (or more recently uncle Tom Cobbley and all for the Beeb).

Even easier:

Dirty old river

must you keep rolling,

flowing into the night

People so busy

make me feel dizzy

taxi light shines so bright.

Easy - Waterloo Sunset, The Kinks

What about this one?

Could a copper catch a crooked coffin maker,

Could a copper comprehend,

That a crooked coffin maker is just an undertaker

Who undertakes to be your friend.

Sorry, SV, I'm going to disallow this as your 'Timmy Mallet' answer is completely wrong - HOW VERY DARE YOU!!! Timmy Mallet??? I'd rather chew maggots!!

The lyric was actually from 'Horse Sized Pills' by The Dandy Warhols...

NOW you can have a go:

Could a copper catch a crooked coffin maker,

Fog on the Tyne - Lindisfarne

Here's one that's been a hit twice, so oldies and youngsters should know it.

The three men I admire most

The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost

They took the last train to the coast.

or as my old spanish version puts it:

The Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

They took the last train to the coast.

Edited as Robert Plant stole lines 2 and 3 for one of his 'own' songs :shame:

It's the ultimate drunken jukebox singalong 'American Pie' by DonMclean

Another easy peasy one

My love she speaks like silence,

Without ideals or violence,

She doesn't have to say she's faithful,

Yet she's true, like ice, like fire.

Another easy one from the wonderful eighties...

The distant echo,

Of far away voices, boarding far away trains.

To take them home to,

The ones that they love and who love them forever.

Suze - Think Reggae female singer

Continues :-

Boy how it hurts me inside.

Coz everytime we meet

We play hide and seek

I'm wondering what I should do

Should I dare come up uo you

And say" How do you do"

Where's Scarborough? Near Clacton? Isle of Wight?

Goodnight. Rest well.

Scarborough is on the Yorkshire coast.

There are two ansers to this one. The lines come from the tradtional song Scarborough Fayre, but they were also borrowed by Bob Dylan for the son 'Girl from the North Country"

Well, if you're travelin' in the north country fair,

Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline,

Remember me to one who lives there.

She once was a true love of mine.

As Simon didn't add any new lyrics, I thought I'd step in with:

The wind in the willow played

Love's sweet melody

But all of those vows we made

Were never to be

Hint: if anyone has been following the recipes thread, they should get it pretty quick :jester:

Ah find my thrill

when she took the pill

on blueberry hill

Fats MahJongtile...

MY go:

Something about the way you talk

Makes me want to clear my throat

There's a method to your movements

That really gets my goat

I look for sniffy linings

But you're rotten to the core

I've had just about all I can take

You know i can't take it no more...

When will you learn? Nobody has heard of Mark Mothersbaugh or Devo (except those of us too old and weird to notice)

Not fair not fair!!!

DEVO - the very idea!

Only lyrics i know by them is Are we not men? We are Devo! Devo Devo!

I'm not old enough or weird enough to play this game. And I want a stamping feet smiley!!

Baddad, you and my OLD brother would get along like a house on fire. I think you shared the same record collection (apart from the YES albums of course  )

OLD record collection??? Old????

Right, something newer then:

If you could blow up the world with a flick of a switch

would you do it?

If you could make somebody poor just so you could be rich

would you do it?

If you could watch everybody work while you just lay on your back

would you do it?

If you could take all the love without giving any back

would you do it?

Easy - Flaming Lips - The Yeah, Yeah, Yeah Song :dance::D

I'll sing it one last time for you

Then we really have to go

You've been the only thing that's right

In all I've done

And I can barely look at you

But every single time I do

I know we'll make it anywhere

Away from here

Light up, light up

As if you have a choice

Even if you cannot hear my voice

I'll be right beside you dear

Love this one........

Smiley, I was so sure it was Coldplay, I've sat n skimmed through all of their tracks on my mp3 player but then I remembered the video for this with the motorbike in the snow..............

Its Run by Snow Patrol

Heres a one for the oldies and probably my favourite song of all time.....well for today anyway :P

Hung velvet overtaken me

Dim chandelier awaken me

To a song dissolved in the dawn

The music hall a costly bow

The music all is lost for now

To a muted trumperter swan

Columnated ruins domino

There are two possible answers, I'll accept either cos I'm nice like that :D But the original is the best by far.
