Digestive enzymes

Recommended Posts

Is anyone using digestive enzymes for their child?

If yes, which ones, how do you 'get them in' - and do you consider them beneficial?

If no, any particular concerns?

Thanks in advance

No, I don't and I don't know anyone who does. I know that they're big in the US and you can get them over the internet from the US but I don't know enough about them.

Sorry

Yes I use enzymes.

I've got several books on their use generally. I've also got Karen DeFelice's book "Enzymes for Autism and other neurological conditions" ISBN 97259817-7 which I find quite useful.

I'm getting ready for an LA panel tomorrow  but if you want some links to some online articles about enzymes in general, then pm me, although it may be a day or two before I get a chance to do it.

I've been recommended to put my son on sacromyses (think thats how its spelled) which is a good yeast. :D A Nutritionist who specialises in ASD children recommended it. She said children with ASD have been found to have quite a lot of parasites in their gut (not known why this is). I think you can get it from health food shops. I got mine in a health food shop. I cant say yet whether it has done any good as he has not been on it very long, but it certainly hasnt had any bad effect.

I also had my son on Acidophillus which is a digestive enzyme. I bought it from Holland and Barrett and broke the capsule and mixed it into yoghurt, which he got used to taking. There is a good book called "Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Dr Natasha Campbell -McBride, which goes into it all in detail. I bought my copy of Amazon.

Hope that helps

I have been using enzymes since Easter. I decided to try them after another parent used them with her daughter with good results. My sons teacher said his concentration was better, he was producing more work and appeared less fidity. You can buy them from Scotland

My son uses them before eating protein, so he takes them prior to his lunch and evening meal. School are fantastic about giving him his enzymes but they have seen the good results with them.

There is a good book called ?Enzymes for Autisim and other neurological conditions its worth reading.

I have found enzymes to be effective for myself, I don't currently use them as I can't afford everything, I have found using several things such as enzymes, probiotics, zeolite which is miracle natural mineral that removes heavy metals and other pollutants ( we are living in a very polluted world )and a clean healthy diet as free of pesticides and other pollutants eg heavy metals to be really helpful. I used high strength digestive enzymes from USA which were more effective thatn the ones in healthfood shop although I'm sure they are better than nothing.

THey are particularly helpful where people have intolerance to certain foods or digestive difficulties.

All the dietary measures I have taken have also got rid of extremely debillitating asthma which is a nice side effect
