  1. Oh BD you've reminded me of that lovely Wallace Collection song Daydream  I would love a copy of that for my ipod! I didnt get any further with checking out the Beta Band but will eventually. The Verve that you recommended was lovely and hippy trippy B) I'll keep an eye out for the Aliens.

However....when I went to Manchester a friend took me to a cool cheap record store there and picked out 14 albums that he knows I'll love so I got quite a lot of music to digest just now. At present I'm obsessing over Patti Smith. I knew some of her stuff but wow, she's 100% consistant

  2. I hope i havent used a trade name there!

Has anyone discovered body sox. We have been loaned one of these for a pupil at school.

It is a lycra rectangular 'bag' with a long openning at the front which velcros shut. A person can climb into the bag and feel enclosed and secure. He can lay down in it and stretch his limbs against the material. We have found that the bag has an immediate calming effect on some of our pupils when they have become over stimulated.

I would send a photo if I knew how.

I think they are very expensive but look quite easy to make

  3. HI, I work in a school, in an autism base. I find weighted blankets to be very calming for our pupils. I have recently made mini weighted blankets out of pillowcases.

I use those long wheat bags that are infused with lavendar and can be microwaved for treating stiff necks etc. I wrap them with wadding and stitch them into the pillow case in channels and fill other channels with just wadding. I find 3 wheat bags ideal. I make a soft fleecy cover for the weighted 'pillow'.

A couple of our pupils love these, they are a good size to hold on their head and cover their ears, or to hold on their shoulder or on their knees when sitting.

    Hope that helps someone

  4. Hello, I havent been hear for a while :robbie:

Glossop...Particularly malicious rumours spread by painters.

Melbury Bubb... An oversized pompom on a woolly hat.

Shellow Bowells...The bits of bread that sink to the bottom of the pond untouched by the ducks.

Hopton Wafers...The bits of biscuit that float in your coffee after dunking.

Grike...The annoying crease that you get if your not carefull when ironing.

Me & mr p sat up in bed reading our respective books.

    Me: the latest Joanna Trollope

Him: The Dangerous Book for Boys (which he keeps giving me "interesting facts" from)

Sums up our relationship, really

Sounds like a match made in heaven

I'm reading Ann Tyler's 'The Accidental Tourist'. I'm loving it, very funny in a kind of dry and ironic way. I like books where not a lot happens....just exploring human nature and relationships I guess.

  8. Hmmmm... I liked it, but gotta say I prefer the orig...

Now, my fave car CD at the mo is the album by this lot... a couple of 'fillers' but mostly has me tapping along quite nicely :)

Not sure about the sont tho.....was OK, if you like that sort of thing

    Now here's a guy who once wrote/sang

'In a perfect world we'd all sing in tune

But this is reality so give me some room'

He may not have the voice of an angel but he's made some cracking songs...
