  1. Appeal for the Wood Work shop at Beccles Dear supporters, our wood work shop at Beccles is running low on materials, particularly chemicals such as wood stain and weather protection paints. We are also getting low on wood!! If anybody is clearing out a garage or shed and has any to spare, we'd be grateful to have them and can collect locally around Beccles.   2. A CITY SCAVENGER HUNT! Pit your wits against other teams, or just have a leisurely search and learn more about Norwich; either way, you will be helping to raise funds for Asperger East Anglia. Teams of between 2 & 4 at £10 per team and proceeds to go to Asperger East Anglia.   3. Family Support groups We have family support groups in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, which are run by Debbie Brown. We run the groups fortnightly between 10 am and 12 noon on a drop in basis. All family members are welcome and it costs each family £4.00 per family per session. We offer craft activities plus games for the children and an opportunity for parents to get together and talk,offer each other support and advice and signpost families to various organisations that might be able to help them further. We are currently on our Summer break but the Great Yarmouth group will be meeting next and then fortnightly from 12th September at Christchurch, King Street, Great Yarmouth and the Lowestoft group will be meeting again fortnightly from 5th September at the Kirkley Centre, London Road South.   4. I have not done much personal on this website for a long time - I guess my life has improved a bit that don't need it as much as I used to. Life is still full of problems, but I am well-supported at work. So progress of a sort.
  5. Book Fair Friday! This Friday, 31st July, we will be holding a book fair in the yard at Beccles, weather permitting. The book sale room will be open as usual, but we'll be putting other stock on show downstairs in the yard. We'll start around 10am and finish around 4pm, so come along and see what's new.   7. Decorative animal planters made to order! Want an unusual decoration for the garden or yard? Something a little bit different? How about a decorative farm animal planter? We have them as pigs, sheep, cows, a donkey and cart, and have even made our own "chicken" design for a customer needing something special. If you need a custom design for your patio, you can just ask our very experienced carpenters to create it for you!   10. Please would all customers note that our Book/Record store at Beccles will be CLOSED this coming Monday (29th June). This coming Wednesday (1st July) we will start new opening days, which are Monday and Wednesday-Saturday. Opening *times* will be as the A-Shop: 9.30am-5pm.   11. National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTI) - Update. A meeting has been arranged for July 21st 2015 at 10.30am in the Stanley Cooper Room at the Charing Cross Centre 17-19 St John Maddermarket, Norwich, NR2 1DN for people to have the opportunity to speak to Peter Bates from the NDTI. For people in Norfolk & Suffolk with Learning Disabilties (and their carers): The National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTI) are looking at ways to make improvements to the mental health care provided for people with learning disabilities across Norfolk and Suffolk and are keen to talk to service users and carers of people with learning difficulties about their experience. We have been asked to arrange a date in June or July for people to have the opportunity to speak to the NDTI. Book/Record Store opening from July onwards Please would all customers note that from the week commencing 29th June, that is, the last week in June and first week in July, our Book/Record Store at Beccles will open Wednesday-Saturday and follow the opening times of the A-Shop, 9.30am-5pm. We will be closed Sunday-Tuesday, but intend to eventually be open every day the A-Shop is open; please watch this space.   17. Help please -- coat-hangers needed! Do you have any coat-hangers to spare? We are running low on them at the A-Shop in Beccles and need some more, especially wooden ones.   18. Beccles A-Shop and Book Store at Bank Holiday Weekend The A-Shop and the Book Store at Beccles are open today (Saturday 23rd May) and we have a furniture sale as well. Please note that we are unable to open tomorrow or on the Bank Holiday Monday, as originally planned, due to unforseen circumstances. Normal opening will resume Tuesday (26th may). We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
  19. We are now registered with Total Giving: Total Giving is a website helping people make donations knowing that 100% goes straight to their charity.   20. We have some more furniture for sale at the A Shop: Computer desk with wall anchor points - £25. Red car bed for children, good condition - £50. Traditional style double bed & mattress by the Brass Bed Company. There is damage to one bedknob, otherwise in very good condition - £150. All of our furniture can be delivered for a charge. Book Store hours & Special Events at Beccles Extended hours for our Book Store at Beccles: From the 1st of May, we will be opening more often: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; plus Spring, Summer and Autumn Bank Holidays. Opening times will be the same as the A-Shop. Special event opening times: In addition, all of our retail departments at Beccles will open this Sunday, 3rd May: the A-Shop, the Book Store & the Woodwork department, plus a jumble sale in the yard. Something for everyone! Meanwhile we are running short of furniture and shop-quality bric-a-brac, clothes & paperback fiction. If anyone has any of these that they no longer need, donations would be welcome and as usual, all proceeds go to helping people affected by Asperger Syndrome.   22. Our book store is reopening after a short break We now have a dedicated room for the book store and reopen tomorrow (Friday 17th April 2015). We've brought out a slightly different selection of stock so there are new things for you to see. Entry to the building is the same door as before and we are still in a room above the A Shop - please follow the signs. Opening hours for now are as usual, but with the dedicate room, they will be expanding in the future; please watch this space. Currently our hours are Mondays 10.15am-4.45pm, Thursdays & Fridays 9.30am-4.45pm. Thanks to all our customers and donors - please come in and welcome us into our new home!   23. Beccles book store temporary closure Would everybody kindly note that our book sales at Beccles will close early on Monday 13th April at 3.30pm and be closed on Thursday 16th April. We will be open again on Friday 17th April.
  24. A Shop & book store opening at Easter Our book store has lots of gardening books in, just ready for Spring; plus with Easter and holidays coming up, we have many children’s books too. We are open on Good Friday and intend to open on Tuesday (with Monday opening hours) this week if possible – please phone 01502 715500 on the day. Our charity shop, the A Shop, is open on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
