  1. Haven't posted for a while but have been lurking. Just need some help, a friend of mines brother, has severe brain damage and cannot lead a normal life. The group "Contact" is funded by the local council and it means that for 3 hours every Tuesday night, he gets to meet up with friends similar to himself and to go out in a group and have a good time doing what we take for granted......going for a drink, laser quest, bowling etc

    He loves this activity so much and will break his heart if they stop the funding. Please Please take 2 mins to sign the petition and forward to family and friends. It would mean so much if you would do this.

    Thank you all so much xxx

    No need for any details except for your name and email address.

  2. Just wondered what your views on this would be? Our son goes to a special needs school, there he has a swimming lesson, in school time, he has recently wanted to grow his hair (wanting to be more goth - showing an identity) but last week he came home and the swimming teacher has said that he can't go swimming unless he has a bauble tied in the front of his hair. She has said it is a health and safety point just in case his hair gets sucked up in the filter system! His hair, at the moment, is just below his eyebrow level at the front and just below collar level at the back, now he is being excluded from all swimming activities, the only form of physical activity he enjoys. We are not happy bunnies at the moment, any views?...

  3. There is a non-means tested tax reliefy thing that should have been paid out to all parents that had at least one child in the home aged under 16 between 2001 and 2003, but generally wasn't unless it was specifically claimed for.

    You can claim for back payment but you MUST do this BEFORE January 31st!

    There was an article about it in the Daily Mail yesterday Daily Mail

  4. We had loooaaaddddsss of the ol' white stuff here, here's some pics of our dogs enjoying themselves. Although outside this morning drivers did not as there were three little prangs...

  5. Well, my username (as BD knows) comes from a character from an 80's comedy programme called Absolutely, played by John Sparkes Siadwell 'ere. I was in the Air Force in England during the late 80's and as I grew up in Wales, well etc,etc. and no I do not sound or look like him. My avatar is two thirds of my dogs, these are my two Huskies Noushka and Smithy...

  6. I can't remember either why you are not supposed to touch halogen bulbs (or car bulbs), but I did it once and it left a big black finger print on the bulb which cast a shadow when the light was switched on . . . on second thoughts, this is probably the reason why you are not supposed to touch them!

    If you touch a halogen lamp with bare fingers then it will leave a grease/oil deposit, and as the lamp works at VERY high temperatures it will weaken it and decrease it's life span. If you do touch the lamp then you need to wipe it down with alcohol (not the stuff ya drink though)...

  7. Ah, yes this problem. Our DS has always had bowel trouble from constipation in the early years to very loose movements from the age of 5, he's now 14 and still it goes on. When he was 6 we took a stool sample and a few weeks later had a visit from the enviromental health :o he had some long worded bug which causes loose stools. Anyway nothing more was done until recently where he has had a lactose intolerence test - negative and a biopsy - negative again, so last week it was back to head down toilet (old airforce resperator on) and taking another sample (put me off chocolate moose for a while :whistle: ) so we are awaiting results. He also does not go in school, sometimes comes home legging it through the house straight into said room. He is on Lomotil at the moment which does help a little, but still not sufficient. Did ask the consultant if he thought there was a link between Aspergers and bowel problems and he just laughed, oh well...

  8. Found this on another forum, nice bit of fun, so have a go and tell us your new name...

    The following is excerpted from a children's book, Captain Underpants And the Perilous Plot Professor Poopypants, by Dave Pilkey, in which the evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names...

    So:-

    1. Use the third letter of your first name to determine your New first name:

    a = snickle

    b = doombah

    c = goober

    d = cheesey

    e = crusty

    f = greasy

    g = dumbo

    h = farcus

    i = dorky

    j = doofus

    k = funky

    q = slimy

    r = dorfus

    s = snooty

    t = tootsie

    u = dipsy

    v = sneezy

    w = liver

    x = skippy

    y = dinky

    z = zippy

    2. Use the second letter of your last name to determine the first half of your new last name:

    a = dippin

    b = feather

    c = batty

    d = burger

    e = chicken

    f = barffy

    g = lizard

    h = waffle

    i = farkle

    j = monkey

    k = flippin

    l = fricken

    m = bubble

    n = rhino

    o = potty

    p = hamster

    q = buckle

    r = gizzard

    s = lickin

    t = snickle

    u = chuckle

    v = pickle

    w = hubble

    x = dingle

    y = gorilla

    z = girdl e

    3. Use the third letter of your last name to determine the second half of your new last name:

    a = butt

    b = boob

    c = face

    d = nose

    e = hump

    f = breath

    g = pants

    h = shorts

    i = lips

    j = honker

    k = head

    l = tush

    m = chunks

    n = dunkin

    o = brains

    p = biscuits

    q = toes

    r = doodle

    s = fanny

    t = sniffer

    u = sprinkles

    v = frack

    w = squirt

    x = humperdinck

    y = hiney

    z = juice

    Mine is Boobie Dippinhiney...

  9. Mr. Baker :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy: , Thank you. After reading your post it made me feel a little bit prehistoric shall we say, I was thinking that the dashboard would come up on the 'puter :unsure: , but read those little words in the brackets and the whole lot suddenly dawned on me, like a 4 ton anvil crashing from a great height. Now, thankfully he is online and very joyous, once again THANKYOU...

  10. I need HHHHHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPP. Trying to connect an xbox 360 online for our DS, have followed set up procedure as per microsoft for connecting using router/modem(siemens gigaset se587,free from Tiscali) and cannot even get the opening dashboard to come up, and after a few minutes the xbox turns itself off. Have tried lots of things i.e. port forwarding, internet sharing and countless amounts of "help" webpages but zilch. Is there anyone out there who has any experience in this maddening, frustrating,time consuming piece of inanimate objects, please...

  11. Thought it would be a good idea to buy our, soon to be, 14 year old son an MP3 player for his birthday, only problem is we're completely clueless as to downloading said material. Are there sites where you can download and are there any such things as a legal, free download site? This is coming from someone who recently found out that "sick" (i.e. your dog is really sick) is now the good, of course replacing the "bad" that was. :wacko:

  12. Oh just a thought Siadwell...

    Do you remember John Spark's 'Siadwell' on Absolutely? Very underrated comedy show - you only ever hear of Morweena Banks from it these days but everyone on it was excellent.

    If you can dig up a bit of John sparks doing his brick ventriloquism on the same site you found the goons I for one would appreciate it!

    I'm off now to see if absolutely is available on DVD! :lol:

    L&P

    BD :D

    Remember it? That's where my nickname came from, superb. Couldn't find the brick ventriloquist but there is this Absolutely, and as for the mirage sketch, well that had me crying with laughter, aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, I was upstairs...

  13. Have a lookie at this site Stud Wall it shows you in good detail, and don't for get that plasterboard have two sides one side for plastering ( if you're going to plaster the wall) and the other side for just painting on, oh and use plasterboard screws not nails personally I think you get a stronger hold...

  14. I love Daddy Long Legs, splattering around with no intent they're brill,

    Dunno if you watched Ricky Gervais' "Animals" but apparently their venom is among the most poisonous substances known to man, but they have no means of delivering it! :wacko:
    , nope, incorrect I'm afraid Daddy lovely legs, not even a spider, so all in all wonderful little creatures.
